Jason Momoa: "Henry Is A Sweetheart," Talks 'BvS'

391 days to go until Batman v Superman, and the wait just got a little more painful!

Jason Momoa is expected to make his first appearance as Aquaman in the 2016 film, and he talked to Entertainment Weekly about it. It included the nicest comment about Henry, when asked whether he's filmed any action sequences with him and Ben:

No, we haven’t done too much on the action yet. You know, Justice League is still quite a ways away. But I’m looking forward to it. Henry’s a sweetheart, Ben is a badass, so I’m really looking forward to when we all shoot Justice League.

As for that rumored Aquaman involvement in the Man of Steel scene where Henry is blasted off the oil rig and ends up underwater, Momoa played coy..

Well, you know, I think that’s left for the genius of Snyder to kind of reveal that. There’s definitely a plan in this whole universe that he’s designing, and it’s amazing to be a part of it. I think everything that you see that is building, there’s a purpose behind the whole plan. So I wouldn’t want to take anything away from Zack, because he loves revealing all those things. And… you never know, man.

Read the rest of what Momoa had to say, over at Entertainment Weekly. From what we can tell (including a Salt Lake City sighting) Aquaman and Superman are already best buds. Bring on Justice League!

What We Learned From The 'Stratton' Announcement

Now that we've had a few days to calm down after Simon West was announced as the director for Stratton, we've put together a few key points as we look ahead to the start of production.

1) Production timeline.

We knew Stratton would begin filming sometime between April and June, and now we've learned cameras won't begin rolling until at least the end of June.

2) Busy, busy, busy!

Our first thought after finding out those productions details, was how is Henry going to fit everything in?! -- We can't imagine him not turning up at Comic-Con in early July, for what's sure to be an exciting Batman v Superman panel. That will take place roughly a month before The Man from U.N.C.L.E. opens on August 14. Between promotion for U.N.C.L.E. and Batman v Superman, U.N.C.L.E. premieres, and Stratton filming, we're thinking it's a good thing Henry is Superman.. because he's gonna be putting in a whole lot of flying time!

3) Stratton cast, director background.

So now that Stratton has a director, the next step will be finding Henry's costars and we can't wait to hear who will be joining him in the film. We're also super excited about Simon West at the helm, because like Henry mentioned in the announcement, the famed director is known for "his ability to marry story-telling and action."

Here is a look at some of his work. We're on board with Stratton!

The main reason we are so excited for Henry and this project, is the fact that it's something he's been wanting to do for a while, thanks to his family ties to the military:

“I’ve long wanted to tell a story about the British Special Forces and finally the opportunity has come around. Duncan Falconer’s work is fantastic and we are incredibly fortunate to be working with him so closely.

Henry will portray John Stratton, who Falconer created from his own experiences while serving as a Royal Marine. Henry is an ambassador for The Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund, and he's just begun his training for his role as the Special Boat Service operative trying to track down an international terrorist cell. The film is also the first project for his newly formed company Promethean Productions, which he's running with his brother Charlie and partner Rex Glensy. That's all we know so far, look for the latest updates on Stratton as production gets closer.

New U.N.C.L.E. Pic: A Giggly Solo Ends Up On The Ground

You have our full attention, Guy Ritchie!

The Man from U.N.C.L.E. director tweeted a new BTS pic from the film, and it looks like fun times! - We saw a bit of that scene in the first trailer (at about :54), and bet that's how Solo ends up on the ground.

The scene was shot at Regent's Park (London), and it was the first place we got a glimpse of Henry as Solo back in September of 2013. You can see some of the sets being built in our U.N.C.L.E. YouTube Playlist, and don't miss the pics from that day!

UPDATE 2/26: Timothy Everest has been proudly showcasing the suits Henry wears in the film. We can't wait to see how they look on the big screen.

Check out our coverage on the film with the help of these handy links 1/2 -- And get ready for a lot more, as August 14th gets closer.

Stratton Director Revealed, Henry's Military Training Underway

It's the big news we've been waiting for. Today GFM Films and Amber Entertainment revealed that Simon West will direct Stratton. Henry's Promethean Productions is co-producing the film in which he'll play a Special Boat Service operative, and this is what he told Screen International about working with West:

“I’ve long wanted to tell a story about the British Special Forces and finally the opportunity has come around. Duncan Falconer’s work is fantastic and we are incredibly fortunate to be working with him so closely. We plan to convert the books to cinema as accurately as possible while keeping them topical. Simon West is a perfect match for this movie with his ability to marry story-telling and action, both of which are essential to do this project justice!”

As for West, he seems very excited to work with Henry:

“I have been looking for an opportunity to establish a new UK based action character for some time and Stratton fits the bill perfectly. The greatest challenge was always going to be who can play a character like that and bring depth and realism. I have followed Henry Cavill’s work for while now and I cannot imagine a better actor to take on this role. Henry is the reason this project is now possible.”

According to Screen International, the story follows Stratton as he and his team risk life, limb and national security to track down an international terrorist cell. Stratton is now reportedly set to start filming this summer in the UK and Italy, and just this week Henry began his military training for the role.

Details on that front are scarce, but that type of training usually takes place at the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines in Devon, UK. The Royal Marines Commando School is a TV series that follows what goes on at the centre:

The show has unprecedented access to arguably the most arduous basic military training programme in the world, going behind the scenes at the Royal Marines' Commando Training Centre in Devon.

We've included the first episode, so you can get a feel for what these recruits go through. Here are the rest of the shows (thanks Lucy).

We don't know exactly what training Henry is taking part in, but we're guessing it might include initial testing that assesses his suitability for entry into the Royal Marines:

The course is composed of four Physical Assessments: A 3-mile run, Gym Test 1, the Bottomfield and a 2.5-mile section of the Endurance Course, which includes a 0.5-mile 'hare and hounds' chase, involving the remaining PRMC candidates to keep up with the PTI. The course lasts for a total of 3 days.

Local media reports suggest Henry is actually training in the Dartmoor, UK area:

There is a substantial army training camp on Dartmoor which can be reached via Okehampton, and is commonly referred to as "Okehampton Camp". It is managed by the Defence Training Estate, and used by a variety of military units, including the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines (CTCRM), Lympstone, Devon, and many cadet training units.

Some of the most grueling work is said to take place on Dartmoor, with the Royal Navy mentioning how bad things got for their recruits there just a few weeks ago:

The exercise they undertook on Dartmoor recently coincided with some of the worst weather seen in England this winter. The recruits experienced a combination of heavy rain, cold temperatures, snow and high winds.

Author Duncan Falconer recently talked about putting Henry in the field, and getting him "wet, cold and tired." You can see exactly what he means in that video above (at about the 8:30 mark). We wish Henry and the Stratton team the best with this new project, and will continue to bring you updates as they come in. Stay dry, Henry!

And The "Best Beard" Goes To..

Another awards season has come and gone, and there is a clear winner in the best beard category!

Henry's facial hair has been creating plenty of buzz lately, and BuzzFeed just gave him the number one spot on its "21 Most Important Beards To Walk The Red Carpet This Year."

1. The twigs and leaves that have found their home on Henry Cavill’s beautiful chin.

You guys have been very vocal as well, sharing your thoughts on Henry's beard. So which one was your favorite red carpet look?

You know you want to tell us!

We are guessing the beard could be for Stratton, as Henry prepares to play a Special Boat Service operative in the film. But then again, we thought the same thing when he grew his Super beard in Detroit.. and it looks like that was not for Batman v Superman. Either way, we think he looks amazing in it, and clearly the internet agrees!

Wrap: SDCC Sold Out, Aquaman Is Revealed, WW Film Update

We probably don't have to tell you this, but that selfie at last year's Comic-Con was just a teaser of what's expected to be a Batman v Superman takeover of Hall H in San Diego this July. Badges to attend the convention sold out in about an hour, which was reportedly a record. Throw in a first look at Aquaman via director Zack Snyder, and you can see why this is shaping up to be the DC fan event of the year.

Michael Wilkinson talked to TooFab, about creating Jason Momoa's costume:

"Zack Snyder has a brilliant vision for making this character powerful and relevant, I enjoyed designing a costume that reflects this vision and honors the character's rich legacy."

We had a chance to talk to Wilkinson around this time last year, as he was preparing to head to Michigan to film Batman v Superman. He spoke to us about his experience working with Henry. Don't miss it.

As much as we love Aquaman (and him hanging out with Henry), nothing beats Superman's sleek look. But we look forward to seeing them together on the big screen. This past week we also got an update on Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman movie. According to Deadline, it's set to film this fall. Our guess is that she'll then turn around and promote Batman v Superman with Henry and the rest of the cast, before they start filming Justice League next spring. Exciting times ahead!

UPDATE 2/24: MTV's Josh Horowitz, got Hans Zimmer to share some cool details about the Batman v Superman score while he was at the Oscars. Watch below.

And the man who created those fun Lego Oscars, is now turning his attention to a new traveling art exhibit that will feature Superman and friends.

Variety:

“The Art of the Brick: DC Comics” will showcase Sawaya’s interpretations of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, the Flash, the Joker, the Penguin and Harley Quinn as sculptures, as well as their vehicles and environments in galleries.

The exhibit is expected to launch in the fall.

Henry On The Set Of 'The Man from U.N.C.L.E.' Photo Shoot!

Just as we were starting to miss that perfect beard, it's back!

ShortList magazine has just shared a preview of a photo shoot with Henry, linked to The Man from U.N.C.L.E. promo. The last time the magazine worked with Henry during promotion for Man of Steel, they came out with a beautiful black and white set that included an awesome interview with Superman. This time around, they'll be talking to Solo. @D_youngson and @matty6leaney were lucky enough to see today's shoot, and shared these great pics below.

Matty went on to add, (via) that he was working in the hangar where Henry was doing the photo shoot. He says he had a nice conversation with him, and called him "lovely." Henry then signed a Superman pic for him... always the best with his fans.

@Harrytangye"Henry Cavill, My wife (Cabin Crew) was gutted to hear she had missed you at Exeter Airport today. It's taken a while to calm her down!"

You can see why Harry's wife may have been a tad upset, in these pics from the shoot..

The sexy beard..

The sweetest smile..

The kick-ass car.. which a reader says is a Rolls-Royce Wraith. Fancy Solo!

And we're loving the hot jacket in these fan pics by Lisa Humphries (via).

Capital Air Charter: "A lovely visit from Superman today. Made our day!"

UPDATE (2/24) -- Local news site Express and Echo, got more details from Exeter airport officials about Henry's visit:

The magazine had been given permission to do the shoot with one of their executive aircraft, but didn't reveal that the Hollywood-actor was involved until the last moment.

"He was a really nice man, and our staff were absolutely over the moon."

The Western Morning News added more information:

Managing Director, Malcolm Humphries, said at first he was told that the shoot would be with a male model.

He said: “Then they called back to say they had been lucky enough to have Henry Cavill for the shoot (..) “He was a really nice chap, so lovely and really kind to all the staff here.”

The magazine also hired a Rolls Royce for the shoot and spent most of the day at the airport.

According to both sites, word is Henry is in the area (Dartmoor) training for Stratton!

We can't wait for the issue to hit newsstands closer to The Man from U.N.C.L.E.'s August 14th release. Keep you posted!

In the meantime the excitement for the film keeps building, as we get closer to that date. Armie Hammer's wife just tweeted their 2013 pic with Henry..

And the man who dressed Solo, today was proud to share how good his suits look on Henry (we couldn't agree more).

Look for the very latest, as promotion for The Man from U.N.C.L.E. kicks into high gear!
