Deadline is reporting that Henry is recovering after he suffered a minor leg muscle injury on the set of The Witcher in England:

Cavill is expected to be sidelined for a short period of time, with The Witcher filming around him. Like all productions, the series is scheduled to go on a holiday hiatus later this month. According to U.K.’s The Sun, which first reported the accident, Cavill hurt his leg while on an assault course, working at a height of 20ft while wearing a safety harness.

The Witcher: Filming On Season 2 To Resume In August

Happy Monday!

Netflix has confirmed that production on Season 2 of The Witcher will resume in August.

Earlier this month, showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich told The Wrap that changes are on the way for the cast and crew as they try to stay safe during the pandemic:

Right now, it’s a lot of production meetings, a lot of talking about how to keep people safe… A lot of it is just about flexibility, not just in the planning phases but when we get back on sets. It’s about personal comfort and personal safety. So, the government may say it’s OK to do X or Y, but an actor may say they don’t feel comfortable doing that. And that’s always going to be our first concern.

So we’re making all sorts of plans and accommodations and waiting for various governments to weigh in with their recommendations. And film commissions and Netflix. And yeah, it’s going to impact story. It will have to. But one of the best things about being a writer on set is that I’m there to make those changes as we need them.

Really, in terms of writing, we just been honing a lot over the last eight weeks. Really digging back into scripts, making some big shifts, especially in the emotional journeys of our characters and making sure that everything we’re writing feels really grounded and true.

Hopefully, we get sneak-peeks from the cast and crew like we did with Season 1. We'll keep you updated on the latest, so keep checking back!

'The Witcher' S1 BTS, When Show Could Resume Production

"Damn ⁦he looks good in profile. Shooting one of opening scenes for ep 7"

As we wait for word on when The Witcher could resume filming on Season 2, director Marc Jobst has come through with this neat behind the scenes pic from S1.

Production on S2 was paused almost a month ago, around the time actor Kristofer Hivju announced on Instagram that he had tested positive for coronavirus (he's now recovering at home).

The cast has been in self-isolation like the rest of the world, sharing updates here and there. So when could we see them return to the set? -- Deadline Hollywood estimates that shows like The Witcher, may not resume production until at least July. It will likely depend on when the UK eases its social-distancing restrictions since that is where the series is being filmed.

According to Deadline, Netflix has begun paying minimum guarantees to regular cast members on its shows:

"I hear actors on series, which were filming or about to go into production at the time everything was put on hold, are receiving their minimum guarantees. That’s episodic fees for the minimum number of episodes each regular cast member is guaranteed on a show each season per their contract (it varies)."

Netflix's Ted Sarandos told CNN last month, that disruptions could come later this year:

"What’s happening now is we work pretty far ahead with delivering all the episodes of our shows at once so no disruption over the net few months, maybe later in the year as physical production is not operational."

For now, we wait. But fair warning to Henry, other Witchers are already training to take his place!

Stay home. Stay strong.

P.S. Check out this new video and article about the VFX that went into creating The Witcher. Both really good!

'The Witcher' Halts Production In The UK, Actor Tests Positive For COVID-19

Just a day after reporting that production continued on The Witcher in the UK, Netflix has now apparently halted filming on the show due to the spread of the coronavirus around the world.

The Wrap reports that for now, Netflix has paused production for two weeks. The second season of The Witcher is set to premiere next year.

UPDATE: Deadline has released additional details on the decision to temporarily shut down the show:

We have made the decision, effective immediately, to pause production for two weeks during this difficult time… this will allow everyone the time to make informed decisions about how to move forward.”

The coronavirus has raised challenging issues for everyone working on set on productions for Netflix. We are very grateful for all the work everyone has done to keep cast and crew safe during this pandemic.”

UPDATE #2: The Witcher S2 actor Kristofer Hivju has announced he's now at home in Norway, after testing positive for COVID-19.

Greetings from Norway! Sorry to say that I, today, have tested positive for COVID19, Corona virus. My familiy and I are self-isolating at home for as long as it takes. We are in good health - I only have mild symptoms of a cold. There are people at higher risk for who this virus might be a devastating diagnosis, so I urge all of you to be extremely careful; wash your hands, keep 1,5 meters distance from others, go in quarantine; just do everything you can to stop the virus from spreading. Together we can fight this virus and avert a crisis at our hospitals. Please take care of each other, keep your distance, and stay healthy! Please visit your country's Center for Disease Control's website, and follow the regulations for staying safe and protecting not just yourselves, but our entire community, and especially those at risk like the elderly and people with pre-existing conditions. @grymolvaerhivju #fightcorona #solidarity #takecare #folkehelseinstituttet Thanks to @panoramaagency
