'The Witcher' Mementos Begin Arriving!

Henry has mailed out the latest addition to his coin-giving tradition when he finishes a project.

This time around, it's not exactly a coin but more like a Talisman -- which his costar Steve Wall mentioned when he shared a first look at his gift.

Henry began giving the coins to his coworkers after he finished Man of Steel. You can see the rest in these posts: 1/2/3/4/5.

Harry Lennix On Meeting Henry, Seeing Him Become Superman

Warner Bros.

Harry Lennix had a key role in Man of Steel, playing a skeptical General Swanwick. In a new interview with The A.V. Club he shared the details of the day he met Henry and his reaction when he first saw him in the Superman suit:

That’s maybe one of my favorite stories. I was sort of hanging out, taking some classes at the UCLA extension, studying some things, really not working much. And I saw an announcement that they were going to be rebooting the Superman franchise, and I was, like, “Oh, man, that’d be a dream come true! That’s something I always wanted to do! That’d be awesome!” [Laughs.] So some months pass, and I can’t remember what I did in the meantime, but I ended up with nothing to do but wait.

And then I get a call from my agent: “Zack Snyder wants to talk to you. Can we set up a conversation? I think they want to offer you a part in this Superman thing.” I said, “What?!” They said, “Yeah, but they also want to see if you’d be willing to do some readings with potential Supermen.” And I was, like, “Hell, yeah, I want to do that!” [Laughs.] So I got on the phone with him, and he was just the nicest guy. I’d only met him once before that. I’d auditioned for Dawn Of The Dead, the one that put him on the map, so to speak. Great movie. So I talked to him, and he said, “Yeah, we’d like you to play this general. We’re not sure what role we’re going to offer you in this thing, but I like your voice. You’ve got a great speaking voice.” I said, “Okay, dude!”

So I go in viewing this as an elaborate screen test, and I’m expecting two or three Superman possibilities. But there’s just this one dude, and he’s built like a Sherman tank. And, of course, it’s Henry Cavill, and he’s in one of these little honey wagons with his shirt off, shaving his face. And I was, like, “That’s Superman right there!” I didn’t know who he was yet. But then he put on the suit, and I was, like, “Oh, man…” And they had this huge fan that was blowing the cape back, and it was the original suit from the Christopher Reeve films. I was just, like, “Damn, that’s Superman. They don’t have to look any further, ever!” [Laughs.]

Zack Snyder / Vero

So we did the scene. They set it all up, it was an eight-hour day or something, and we did the scene where I’m, like, “How do we trust you?” Some version of that. The writer was there, too. And then I did the reading of the script when they were doing the pre-visualizations, and I did the announcement at Comic-Con, of course, to say that they were going to be teaming Superman and Batman… again, apparently, because Zack loves my voice! [Laughs.] But it was a great moment. I love Zack Snyder. And I love Superman! Superman’s my favorite superhero.

He's ours too!

Such a great story. You can read the rest of Lennix's interview at The A.V. Club.

Stuntman Liang Yang & Henry Reconnect In Instagram Post

Mission: Impossible Fallout // Paramount Pictures

The brutal bathroom confrontation in Mission: Impossible Fallout had fans cheering every time we watched the film in theaters (safe to say more than a few times). Now Stuntman Liang Yang has released a fantastic showreel, that includes some of his killer moves in the movie and Henry giving him props for his work.

In his Instagram post, Yang also thanked Henry and others for their support...

Henry quickly responded and the convo ended with this warm chat between the two.

Here's hoping that we get to watch them exchange blows on the big screen again!

'Nomis' Post-Prod. Update: Alex Daddario Shares Plot Details

A post shared by David Raymond (@stingrayed) on

This has been such an exciting year to follow Henry's work, not only because he's set to return as Superman in Justice League and is now filming Mission: Impossible 6.. but also because of his role in Nomis.

Director David Raymond has been busy editing the film since production wrapped in March, and a few days ago he shared this behind the scenes pic.

The plot involves a police force that captures an online predator, and soon realizes there's much to be uncovered.

Alex on set with fan @TheSamuelYears

We know Henry is part of that force, and his costar Alexandra Daddario recently shared new details about the plot. While promoting Baywatch last month, Alex spoke to the Winnipeg Free Press about her role in Nomis:

At the time the posters were coming out, Daddario, 31, was herself working in the wintry landscape of Winnipeg, playing the role of a police detective investigating the crimes of an online predator in the thriller Nomis, opposite Henry Cavill and Sir Ben Kingsley.

"Something like Nomis is really interesting to me because I wanted to work with the people that were involved with it and it was a role I’d never done before."

(..) She also doesn’t object to subjecting people to suspense, which she’ll do in Nomis.

"It’s a more adult role than I’ve played," she says. "I’m basically in an interrogation room with the bad guy the entire time and the scenes are very dark and very strange.

Nomis is a psychological piece and is unlike anything the actress has ever done before.

"This character is dealing with something that... I’ve never had a character deal with something like this before in a film. It’s fun. I love doing heavy stuff."

But Alex is not all dark and gloomy. She also gave a shout-out to Henry while doing press overseas.. she seems to think he'd make a great Baywatcher!

Nomis is set to be released next year. Look for production updates as they come in.

It was a real treat to follow Henry and Armie's funny interaction during the promo for The Man from U.N.C.L.E. And while both have moved on to other projects, they remain close (with some boundaries). So when Armie and his wife Elizabeth announced the birth of their baby boy, Henry left a super cute message on Armie's Instagram post.

Thanks to @ArmieHGlobal for letting us know.

Congratulations to Armie and Elizabeth!

"He Has This Goodwill, And Is Polished, And Is You Know.. Pure"

Batman v Superman BTS/Warner Bros/Clay Enos

Gal Gadot has been promoting her new comedy "Keeping up with the Joneses," just after wrapping Justice League. HeyUGuys took the opportunity to ask her about her experience working with Henry and everyone else on set, and she had the best answer:

"It's funny 'cuz literally each and every one of them is the character in a weird way. Henry is super.. you know.. he has this goodwill, and is polished, and is.. you know pure."

Aww, Wonder Woman rocks.. which is why we're happy that she tops Entertainment Weekly's list of the 50 Most Powerful Superheroes. Batman was #3, followed by Supes:

So much about Superman — essentially America’s first superhero — feels quaint today. Truth, Justice, and the American Way were simple ideals for a simpler time, and his Boy Scout mentality may feel out of step with the darker, more tortured superheroes who fill our movie theaters and television screens today. But this alien from Krypton, armed with superstrength, superspeed, X-ray vision, and flight, is the superhero we all identified with first.

Today, as America grapples for what it stands for, Superman — charged with saving humans from themselves, even when he isn’t wanted — may have renewed relevance. In Zack Synder’s interpretation of the Man of Steel, his Achilles’ heel isn’t just a physical aversion to kryptonite. Turns out those broad shoulders are equipped to carry around a ton of emotional baggage, too — loneliness and guilt are formidable opponents. Maybe Superman’s quest for connection, the ultimate immigrant story, is more poignant now than ever. —Nicole Sperling

Definitely the version of Superman we relate to, as we look ahead to Justice League. The one year mark getting closer! #Nov17.

"He's Everyone's Biggest Cheerleader On Set" Amy Talks Zack

If you're an HCN reader, you know we're always cheering for director Zack Snyder. Not only did he choose Henry to be Superman (reason enough), he also gave us a more realistic version of Supes that we can relate to.

Recently Amy Adams had some really nice things to say about Zack. She talked to Variety about working with the Justice League director, while promoting Arrival at the Telluride Film Festival. She mentioned why she has such deep respect for him: "Depending on what an actor needs, Zack kind of adjusts."

Listen to her interview at Variety (at about 40:00). Thanks to @GeekPride5.

Back to Zack choosing Henry, the director talked to MTV about his decision back in 2011. The runner up?.. Joe Manganiello who has been cast as Deathstroke in the next Batman film.

Justice League is currently filming outside of London. It remains to be seen if Manganiello makes an appearance in the film (our guess is yes), and whether he has any scenes with Superman.
