'Go Wild Gorillas' Trail Now Open In Support Of Durrell

My fellow croucher in this photo is my friend Kenneth Rocafort! From comic book fame, no less! And that handome fellow behind us is one of 40 gorillas on Durrell's new Go Wild Gorilla Trail! This one was painted by the mighty Kenneth himself. However, many other artists also graced us with their talents to paint the Gorillas that populate the Gorilla Trail which will guide visitors, and locals alike, around the island on a path of conservation enlightenment. Go Wild Gorillas' primary task is to raise funds so that they can build our family of Western Lowland Gorillas a new and even more fantastic home at Jersey Zoo. Find out more by following the link in my bio. Animal fact incoming: The Western Lowland Gorilla is one of a group of animals that has a triplet of a name in Latin. Which is divided into Genus, Species and Subspecies it is quite simply Gorilla Gorilla Gorilla. Boom. Knowledge. Go forth. #GoWildGorillas @GoWildGorillas @Durrell_JerseyZoo @mitografia_kr

Almost Time To Go Wild For Durrell!

Go Wild For Durrell day is almost here, and there are many ways you can participate by signing up to join in the fundraising fun. Now if your schedule doesn't allow for that, you can also just donate directly to Durrell and help ensure the survival of lemurs, mountain chicken frogs, and ploughshare tortoises. All endangered animals, that as you can see Henry is very familiar with.

Yesterday I was running around a bit so I missed the chance to post about Endangered Species Day! Better late than never though eh! This a picture of me holding a critically endangered Ploughshare Tortoise. While at Durrell Zoo over the weekend I had the opportunity to get close to this little guy and make friends. Turns out he likes tickles...who knew? Check out www.Durrell.org to learn more about these beautiful little guys and gals. #DurrellZoo #EndangeredSpeciesDay #PloughshareTortoise

"I Feel Honored That There's A Ben Affleck Bat Flying Around"

How time flies!

It's been almost two years, since Henry met and adopted Ben the bat at Jersey Zoo.

— Edward Bell (@edbelljersey) October 14, 2017

As the conservation trust celebrates Bat Appreciation Month with a look at baby Ben's mom Claudia, we have a new quote from Ben Affleck talking about Henry's adopted #batson... who is very appropriately named after him:

"I feel honored that there's a Ben Affleck bat flying around. Henry does great work for the zoo and elsewhere for the animal kingdom, it's incredible to see his passion and commitment."

The quote comes from the latest issue of The Rake magazine, where Henry also talks about his work for Durrell Wildlife:

"I have always loved animals, I have always loved the natural world, and I have loved learning about these incredible living creatures on our planet. I thought if I am going to throw my weight behind a charity, it has to be something that I am passionate about."

Henry has been ambassador for the charity since 2014, participating in several fundraising events including The Durrell Challenge that will return next year. You can learn all about his involvement with Durrell by visiting cavillconservation.com, where you can also adopt Ben the bat!

Today is an extremely special day here at Jersey Zoo as we celebrate Badongo’s 18th and his son Indigo’s 5th birthday. The gorillas will be treated with birthday cards smeared in marmite, and presents in the form of boxes decorated with wrapping paper and filled with porridge oats, popcorn, sultanas and nuts. Delicious! This is a recent photo showing just how different father and son are in size, it’s amazing to think that one day soon Indigo will be just as large as his father.

Henry's Birthday Wishes For Ben The Bat

Happy Birthday to Ben the Bat!! Today marks the 2nd year of Ben the Bat's young and very important life. However, it took some explaining to convince Kal that he is still number one non-human in our pack! @Durrell_jerseyzoo #BenTheBat #HappyBirthday #Kal

They grow up so fast.

It's hard to believe Henry's bat son, Ben is turning two today and what a furry cutie he is. Just don't say that out loud in front of Kal because apparently there is some sibling rivalry going on.

From Henry's FB

Henry adopted Ben when he was just a few months old, and since then the bat has been living at Durrell's Jersey Zoo.

We're always happy to hear how Ben is doing from Henry, whenever we catch up with him (1/2). As you know he's an ambassador for Durrell and has raised valuable funds to help the charity continue its conservation work around the world. Here's how you can get involved..

Throwback From Jersey Zoo, 'Just Giving' Nomination Reminder

We don't have to wait until #ThrowbackThursday to share a great pic of Henry we hadn't seen before. Sam met him at Durrell's Jersey Zoo some time ago, and today he posted the moment on his IG.

Thanks Sam!

Henry has been an ambassador for Durrell Wildlife since 2014. Learn all about his work for the charity and how you can help him support them at cavillconservation.com.

Durrell does incredible life-saving work for species all over the world, and they are always posting the latest news on their social media including the birth of their latest baby at Jersey Zoo!

Meet the newest member of our narrow-striped mongoose (aka Bokiboky) family! This little one is growing up fast but if you're quiet while visiting, you may see mum and infant playing or snuggling up together. Native to South Eastern Madagascar, the Bokiboky has recently been reclassified on the IUCN Red List from Vulnerable to Endangered due to their decreasing numbers in the wild. With a captive population of just 24 in Europe, every birth is vital so Durrell are working closely with other zoos to ensure the survival of the narrow-striped mongoose.
