Henry Shares Training Update, Name Drops 'Green Lantern'

Henry rockin' that Durrell Wildlife beanie, with two months to go until The Durrell Challenge (read his new message for you).

Tonight he shared a new photo and update on his training, while he films Nomis in Winnipeg. Oh, and he also casually name-dropped Green Lantern because.. troller supreme. It seems he mentioned his fellow superhero in reference to Nathan Fillion's comment about them working out together.

Nate has played the character in several DC animated films, and even Mpho Koaho threw in his two cents..

Then again this is the second time Henry brings up Green Lantern in the last few weeks, and we can't forget Miami.

One thing is for sure, he has everyone talking!

Guess we'll find out soon enough if his hints are leading somewhere or he's just teasing the fandom. Sneaky Supes!

Magazine's Fun Photo Of Henry & Renzo Gracie In Florida

"Rear naked choke is just like Kryptonite. Practice a lot so you will be able to submit even the super man with @renzograciebjj and @henrycavill."

The face of someone enjoying the warmness of South Florida while the rest of us FREEZE (I'm talking to you Santa Ana winds). Gracie Magazine captured this candid moment between Henry and BJJ expert Renzo Gracie this weekend, and we love it!

You may remember Henry visited Gracie's academy over the summer. He's been back to train there several times since taking up Jiu Jitsu in London earlier this year.

Henry also follows Gracie on Instagram. We'll hopefully get to see some of the moves he's been learning, when Justice League is released next November.

Henry Shows Us Some Of His Jiu-Jitsu Training In Florida

Nice moves, Supes!

Henry spent part of his time in Florida perfecting his Jiu-Jitsu skills, and today he shared this update. On Thursday some of his youngest fans also got to hang out with him. Henry has been training in the martial art and combat sport since earlier this year, as he prepared to return to his role in Justice League that's now filming at the WB studios outside of London.

Superman Training In London: Victor's Pic With Henry

victorestimabjj: "Look who I have met here @rogergracieacademy. It's great to see that @henrycavill is a BJJ lover. #jiujitsuforeveryone #whatisyourmission #missionsubmission"

Henry is looking leaner and ready for Supes duty (hair is definitely getting longer!), as he continues his training at Roger Gracie's Academy in London. Victor met him today and shared this great pic.

We just learned A TON of new details on where Justice League is going with its story, but the studio is keeping Superman's return a big secret! (which makes us even more excited for November 17, 2017).

Catch up on the latest in this post, and keep checking back.

Henry Training For Justice League: Instructor's New Pic

charlesnegromonte: "Superman getting ready to apply some Jiu-jitsu in the next film."

Henry has been training for Justice League at Roger Gracie's Academy in London, and today one of their instructors posted this pic with Supes (who looks like he's kicking some major butt). Henry posted a pic from there last week after Gracie also shared some photos. The big question of course, is how the moves Henry is learning will be incorporated into the story. November 17, 2017 can't get here soon enough.

Thanks to @JesabelRaay.

Building A Bigger Action Hero: The Henry Cavill Way

We've all noticed it in recent fan pictures, Henry is back in Man of Steel shape (some say even bigger than last time) as he prepares to put on the Superman suit once again in Batman vs. Superman. As you know if you've been following our updates since last year, building that massive body is no easy task. Men's Journal talked to Henry's trainer Mark Twight, for a feature on "Building a Bigger Action Hero." The entire article is a MUST READ, but we're highlighting his comments, along with those of producer Deborah Snyder. The story deals with the pressure for actors to have the muscles of the characters they are chosen to embody, and the different routes taken to achieve that. In Henry's case, all hard work and determination.

"On the set of last summer's Superman – Twight banned junk food and soft drinks from the set, as he continued to sculpt the new Man of Steel, Henry Cavill. The trainer has nothing but praise for Cavill, who had to keep up his physique for a grueling 127-day shoot. "It's not like you're peaking a guy for three days for his shirtless scene," Twight says. "You're living with this guy for a year."

For the six months prior to the shoot, Cavill worked out and ate according to Twight's plan. The film's producers actually contacted Twight and his wife, Lisa, a trainer, to make sure they weren't giving Cavill anything illegal. With tarnished heroes like A-Rod and Lance Armstrong, it was important to establish that our most American superhero wasn't a juicer.

"Someone in production had me more than pinky swear," says Lisa, leaning on a stationary bike. "They told me that they'd be drug-testing Henry."

Did they?

"They never tested him," says Twight, "but I gave them a list of every supplement, with contact numbers."

Henry helps out trainer Michael Blevins at the Michigan Barbell Competition in February

Twight says there is a secret to Cavill's transformation. "Yeah, there's a 90-day miracle, but you're not gonna fucking like it," he says, laughing. "It's hard work. It's commitment. Self-discipline. Persistence. And mindful attention to all this stuff. Then you can become whatever you want."

As Deborah Snyder puts it, the full transformation is key to getting any action role in Hollywood:

"A decade or so ago, Stallone and Van Damme and Schwarzenegger were the action stars," says Deborah Snyder, who produces husband Zack Snyder's films: 300, Man of Steel, the upcoming Batman vs. Superman movie. "Now we expect actors who aren't action stars to transform themselves. And we expect them to be big and powerful and commanding."

And that is exactly what Henry has achieved. These days Superman is looking more than ready to take on Batman, and to hear him say it, even Doomsday. Read the complete article at Men's Journal.

Henry Is One Dedicated Man of Steel: Trainer Talks Holiday Regimen

If you had any doubts about Henry's commitment to his work in the sequel to Man of Steel, let Gym Jones reassure you he's not wasting any time. Henry was spotted in Salt Lake City over the holidays, and now trainer Robert MacDonald is sharing details with Moviehole about Superman's workout while he was there:

You mentioned Henry Cavill before – the new Superman. What a transformation he made! He’s super huge!

Well, and I will tell you with Henry that I would put him against any other actor on the planet right now in a fitness test, and I’d put money on the fact that he’d win. He is not just… He doesn’t just look good, he is a fit human being.

Yeah, wouldn’t surprise me.

And it was a pleasure to work with him. He was in Salt Lake City over Christmas, but a pleasure to work with him because he just works hard. No excuses. He shows up, he does what he has to do. He challenges himself and he goes home. There was a couple of times in Salt Lake City where he was my workout partner and I gotta tell you, a lot of people disappoint me when they train with me, he didn’t disappoint me in the least. In fact, he impressed me. And so, a guy like that who… He looks that way for a certain reason, it’s because he bought into it. He bought into the training, he bought into our philosophy, he did what was needed to be done, and that’s what happens.

Wow! So, were you working on… Was it for Superman or…

No. Mark worked with Henry. Mark Twight and Michael Blevins worked with Henry. Henry came in December because it’s over Christmas and to show you the type of dedication that Henry has, he came in over Christmas because he knew he was going to start shooting the movie Batman vs. Superman and start training for the movie in January. So he wanted to come in December to continue his training. He didn’t wanna take time off at Christmas.

Henry takes a break during training in Salt Lake City (Photo: Gym Jones).

Wow! That is dedication, isn’t it?

Yeah. He was there over Christmas and New Year’s and that’s what he did. He didn’t go home to England and party. He didn’t do all the things that I suppose a normal person would have done. He said, “I’m not gonna take a Christmas break off, I wanna be as good as I can be,” and he came to see us.

Wow! Is he fitter than he usually is now or is he even bigger?

Yeah. His fitness… I would say that his fitness is progressing every single day. And not just in terms of looks, but also in terms of what I call real, genuine horsepower. I think people, even in the exercise world, would be shocked with what he can actually lift, what he can actually do. The things he is capable of. He doesn’t just look good. It’s actual real, genuine fitness which is really nice.

Henry started training for the sequel last summer, while he was in London filming The Man from U.N.C.L.E. - MacDonald goes on to talk about Man of Steel 2 and preparing Wonder Woman Gal Gadot (we were the first to report that Mark Twight was in Israel working with her). Read the rest of the interview at Moviehole. As you know, Henry is now in Detroit still training hard with Michael Blevins. We're keeping track of the latest and bringing it to you as we get it.

Guess Who Is Getting Ready For A Winter Workout?

UPDATE: Celebuzz has more details of Henry and Gina's trip to the store (squee!) Check it out.

Salt Lake Running Co. "Can you guess who this is? Yep, Henry Cavill from Man of Steel just came into our store!!!"

Just a day after arriving in Salt Lake City (see pics w/fans at LAX), Henry was busy getting ready for some hardcore training ahead of the start of filming on the Man of Steel sequel. He stopped by the Salt Lake Running Company and they were excited to have him. We're loving Henry in that beanie skull cap and as you can see, he's already in Superman shape (Go Mark Twight!).

By the way, if you're wondering why Henry seems so short next to the other guy, that's because the other guy is B.J. Christenson, a triathlete who is 6'7." Wow.

He wrote on his FB (via): Sometimes worlds collide. Man of Steel meets The Iron Giant. This would be a force unstoppable.

Thanks for the heads up Heidi.

Yes, Henry's Muscles Are All Natural (& The Result Of Hard Work)

It's a disturbing but popular way to gain muscles and fast. Performance-enhancing drugs are the focus of an in-depth piece by The Hollywood Reporter, that right off the top mentions that Henry is NOT among those using them to bulk up. They also talked to his trainer Mark Twight:

"The guy who uses steroids and admits to it earns more respect from me than the guy who uses but insists he doesn't and wants his fans to believe he did things the hard way," says elite trainer Mark Twight, an outspoken proponent of a drug-free regimen, who helped turn Man of Steel's Henry Cavill's abdomen into one of the most-talked-about midsections of the year -- a feat that he says was achieved 100 percent naturally.

Mark has been in London for the last few weeks. We're guessing he's already working with Henry as he prepares not only for his role in The Man from U.N.C.L.E. - but also as he looks ahead at building up his body for the Man of Steel sequel. We asked Henry whether he was ready to take up the training again, when we spoke to him last month.

Learn all about Henry's training for Man of Steel in our wrap. Plenty of good stuff to go over. We look forward to seeing him turn back into Superman (& possibly kick some Batman a**) by the time the cameras start rolling on the sequel, early next year.
