Flashback Sunday: Media, Coworkers, Fans Talk Henry

A photo posted by Moe Dunford (@moe_dunford) on

After getting spoiled with tons of new pics and interviews from the Batman v Superman and Huawei promo, things are slowing down for a bit with Henry hard at work on Justice League (official title!).

Lucky for us -- Henry's fans, coworkers, and the press have been sharing their flashback moments with him.

Moe Dunford posted that great shot from The Tudors, while Aldo Kane gave us a peek at a grape picking expedition during the filming of  Driven to Extremes.

Justine got to fly with Henry in April, and recently posted her awesome photo with him (saying only great things about him).

And this week a Los Angeles photographer shared his video of Henry and his girlfriend Tara, as they arrived for a weekend of Oscar appearances. Here's the rest of the coverage from February: 1/2/3/4.

Thanks for sharing your pics and videos everyone!

Happy Birthday Henry Cavill, Support Durrell In His Honor

Henry turns 33 today! (it's already May 5th in London), and you guys have outdone yourselves in helping him reach his Durrell Challenge goal in time for him to blow out his candles.

Thanks to your amazing support Henry has now surpassed his fundraising target, now let's try to reach the total amount! -- Keep leaving your messages for him on his page and remember every little counts.

Just last week Henry mentioned on Instagram just how much it means to him:

I did want to say thank you for the continuous support you have shown for the things that are dear to my heart!

Here are some other ways you can get involved in supporting him ahead of The Durrell Challenge on May 15.

You can buy raffle tickets for a chance to win Henry's first car.

You can start your own fundraiser (you don't have to run with Henry, but obviously that's the better option).

You can attend the Fun Day at Durrell Wildlife following the race, and meet some of the endangered animals (including Henry's Gorilla family) that benefit from your support.

A strong fandom accomplishes great things. Let's show Supes we have his back!

Happy birthday, Henry.

It's gonna be an amazing year, and your fans will be cheering for you the whole way.

P.S. you guys,

Don't forget to leave your birthday messages for him on his Facebook and Instagram!

Bye, Bye, 2015.. Bring On The Excitement Of 2016

Who would have thought Henry would join social media?

It's our biggest story of the year!

As we welcome 2016, we'd like to take a moment to thank Henry for always being so gracious with his fans.

When we started this blog we knew he was a top guy, and three years later our respect for him has only grown. We've been lucky enough to be able to bring you live coverage from some of his public appearances this year, including the Siam Cup and The Man from U.N.C.L.E. premieres in both London and New York. Because of that, we have gotten a chance to see first hand how kind and accommodating Henry is with everyone he meets. His work as a charity ambassador, has raised key funds for The Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund and Durrell Wildlife (a big thanks to them as well).

Henry's on screen work speaks for itself, with people praising his performance as Napoleon Solo in this year's The Man from U.N.C.L.E.

It's been a real treat to be able to bring you updates on all of Henry's latest projects. And with Batman v Superman and Sand Castle both coming out in 2016, and Justice League filming in London -- it's shaping up to be another very busy year at HCN. We are very grateful to those of you who help us keep this blog a positive place, with nothing but support for Henry. It means a lot to us, thank you.

Don't forget to head over to Henry's Facebook and Instagram, to leave your New Year's messages for him. Now let's get this 2016 party going!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

Solo's Shining Moment Gets Props, Henry's Name Pops Up In 'Immortals' Sequel Talk

It was by far our favorite scene in The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and we're happy to see New York Magazine giving it some love!

The boat chase scene is among its 10 Best Movie Action Scenes of 2015:

Aside from the obligatory wisecracks, humor is often underused in modern action sequences, which is why Guy Ritchie’s (yes, Guy Ritchie’s) espionage romp The Man From U.N.C.L.E. was such a breath of fresh air this year. In what may be its best scene, dashing American agent Solo (Henry Cavill) and stoic Soviet agent Ilya (Armie Hammer) have to make a fast getaway on a speedboat after infiltrating a Roman shipping yard. But then Solo is accidentally thrown off the boat, swims ashore, gets in a truck, and takes a deep breath. Then he turns on the radio, sips some Chianti, and munches on a sandwich while Ilya, in the background, practically tears his butt off doing circles trying to escape the baddies. It’s a beautiful bit of visual humor, but it also gains elegant poignancy when, after Ilya’s boat sinks, Solo leaps back into the action by driving his truck right onto the villains’ boat and saving his drowning partner at the last minute.

Go Solo!

Henry also recently got props from his stunt double in the film:

Henry and I are pretty much the same height and build. He had to slim down from his role playing Superman in Man of Steel in order to shoot The Man from U.N.C.L.E; and I had to put on a bit more bulk to match him, but by the time it came to filming, we were exactly the same size. Henry is a very dedicated, intelligent and professional actor as well as being a very nice guy too.

You don't want to miss the rest (link below).

AskMen UK has a great new article that highlights the gorgeous suits Henry wore in The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and the choices the designer made for him based on his Superman frame.

And we're keeping our fingers crossed for composer Daniel Pemberton. The score from The Man from U.N.C.L.E. has made the list of the music eligible to be nominated for an Oscar. The nominations will be announced on January 14. The Academy Awards will be held on Sunday, Feb. 28.

A quick follow-up about a potential Immortals sequel. This past week Henry's name was once again linked to the film, following news of Relativity's latest move to get out of bankruptcy. The company listed the sequel, as part of a slate of projected film releases in the next few years:

By far the most profitable on the list is “Immortals 2,” which Kavanaugh has previously said will star Cavill. The sequel’s profile would ratchet up considerably from the original thanks to the actor’s current gig as Superman. It has a budget of $146 million with distribution costs $119.3 million — resulting in nearly $27 million in gravy.

Henry has not mentioned whether he would in fact return to the role of Theseus, and Variety reports that Relativity may soon find itself fighting for the rights to the film with one of its business partners:

A lawyer for Manchester Securities Corp., a subsidiary of giant hedge fund Elliott Associates, noted that the interim financing it has provided Relativity continues as the case drags on. While it remains hopeful a reorganization will work, the financier’s lawyer said: “Manchester has been very patient while we work with debtor and Mr. Kavanaugh, but our patience is not endless….We are not on board with this plan yet.”

Elliott also gave notice that it does not acknowledge Relativity’s right to a sequel to the 2011 action fantasy “Immortals,” saying Manchester could claim its rights over the film, which it said is held in its library. A lawyer for Kavanaugh disputed that, saying the title belongs to Relativity, as long as it pays a fee.

The next update should come February 1st, when Relativity heads back to court to find out whether a judge approves its reorganization plan.

Daniel Craig Offers Advice To His 007 Successor: "Don't be S**t"

This came out of nowhere.. or not.

After first saying that he may be ready to leave the Bond franchise, last week Daniel Craig insisted he was in it for the long run. And then he talked to Time Out:

Can you imagine doing another Bond movie?

‘Now? I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists. No, not at the moment. Not at all. That’s fine. I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on.’ (Us: Wohoo!).

You want to move on from Bond for good?

‘I haven’t given it any thought. For at least a year or two, I just don’t want to think about it. I don’t know what the next step is. I’ve no idea. Not because I’m trying to be cagey. Who the fuck knows? At the moment, we’ve done it. I’m not in discussion with anybody about anything. If I did another Bond movie, it would only be for the money.’

And Craig is also brutally honest, when it comes to talking about who could replace him (Henry is often mentioned in the press as a top candidate for the job):

Do you care who plays Bond after you?

‘Look, I don’t give a fuck. Good luck to them! All I care about is that if I stop doing these things we’ve left it in a good place and people pick it up and make it better. Make it better, that’s all.’

You won’t be backseat-driving then?

‘Oh Christ, no. How fucking sad would that be? “Oh look, it’s Daniel Craig, he’s on set again!” No!’

If an actor was offered Bond and came to you looking for advice, what would you say to him – or her?

‘Literally I’d say two things. Firstly, it’s your decision. Don’t listen to anybody else. Well, do listen to everybody, but you have to make the choice at the end of the day. It’s your bed to lie on. And don’t be shit! Don’t be shit. You’ve got to step up. People do not make movies like this any more. This is really rare now. So don’t be shit.’

And if someone rang you and said: 'I’ve taken the 007 gig'. What advice would you have for them?

‘Don’t be shit! Go for it. Embrace it. Some clichéd line like that. But no, just make sure you’re great. You’ve got to push yourself as far as you can. It’s worth it, it’s James Bond.’

Hope you're keeping track, Henry! :p

Henry was recently asked whether he'd be interested in playing Bond after Craig retires (Henry was the director's choice for Casino Royale, before the producers went with Craig). His answer? -- "I wouldn't play the same kind of character (as Craig), but hopefully I can do something that will do justice to the legacy. Bond would be wonderful to play one day. Barbara or Mike (the producers), if you're reading this, give me a call.."
