Henry Reportedly Circling Role In "The Virginian"

The Tracking Board is reporting that Henry is among the actors interested in starring in "The Virginian:"

Though it’s only been on the market for a mere few days, Michael Russell Gunn’s revolutionary spec is red hot and garnering attention from some A-list talent. Sources exclusive to The Tracking Board report that CAA is working to package the script with a star and is making motions to lock down territories. Our sources confirm that Michael Fassbender, Henry Cavill and Charlie Hunnam are the stars circling the historical action/drama.

Pitched in the tone of Braveheart and The Patriot, the story follows the life of George Washington, a complicated man who would rise to become the first President of the United States.

The Virginian is already into a handful of territories, including Fox, Universal, Paramount, Sony, and Warner Bros. Paradigm’s David Boxerbaum and Adrian Garcia took this one out, along with Principato-Young Entertainment’s David Gardner. The script is Gunn’s first spec, though he recently worked as an executive story editor and writer on ABC’s mystery drama series The Whispers.

It’s no wonder that some of Hollywood’s top leading men are swarming, as the script’s all the buzz around town and is a guaranteed awards contender. Presidents are always surefire Oscar bait, as recently proved by Daniel Day Lewis’s win with Lincoln. This rugged portrayal of the founding father is already attracting studio interest, but will immediately be set up and launched into priority development following an attachment (..)

Cavill is an inspired choice, having burst onto the scene playing Theseus in Immortals, and a little known character called Superman in Warner Bros.’ Man of Steel. Most recently appearing in Guy Ritchie’s spy drama The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Cavill is next starring opposite Ben Affleck for Warner’s heavily-anticipated Man of Steel-follow-up, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Oh, and he’ll also be back for a slew of sequels and spinoffs, including a Justice League film. He’s repped by CAA and United Agents.

Sounds really exciting! - Read the rest at The Tracking Board and look for more details as we get them.

Henry Is Back In LA: So Many Exciting Possibilities..

"Last night's crew featuring #Superman #what #HenryCavill"

Publicist Nicole Bamber was out with her friends in Hollywood last night, when they ran into Henry. They couldn't pass up a chance for a pic with Superman (and his brother Charlie), especially a day after the release of the much anticipated Batman v Superman trailer.. which got us thinking, why IS Henry in LA???

He was in China just a few days ago, so the reason must be pretty important if he flew back right after the Laureus Sports Awards. Here are our guesses:

1) He's about to start filming Stratton, and he has some pre-production business to take care of.

2) Warner Bros will have its big summer films presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Tuesday, and there is a good chance The Man from U.N.C.L.E. will be part of that. Will Henry be there as well?

3) IMAX screenings of the Batman v Superman trailer are set for Monday, and can you imagine if Superman showed up in the flesh at one of them? - We don't even want to go there.

4) What we consider the best option.. ALL OF THE ABOVE!!!

You can count on us (if we are able to keep the fangirling under control) to bring you the latest, as we get it.

Enjoy your time in the Sun, Superman!

UPDATE: Sure, kill us with the handsome, that new poster almost finished us off. New photos from today.

Henry Driving A Fast Car At A UK Racetrack? We're In!

This sounds like a promo shoot for The Man from U.N.C.L.E. to us, since Henry shot some of the scenes at Goodwood in the fall of 2013.  But maybe it has to do with the delayed Top Gear show. As soon as we find out, we'll pass it on. In the meantime, here's an U.N.C.L.E. still from Goodwood to get your imagination going..

Or just watch Henry driving a McLaren 12C Spider at Windsor Palace, during the Octane Jubilee Tour of Elegance in September 2012. Vroooom!

A photo posted by @warly_warles on

This test driver calls the BMWi8 the "Most badass hybrid out here." Now picture Henry driving it. More to come!

Is France Getting 'Man of Steel' 2 First? & Animated Henry Cavill In 'Infinite Crisis'

Lucky France! - according to Allocine that's sourcing Warner Bros. France, the release date for Man of Steel 2 there has been set for April 27, 2016. That's a full NINE DAYS AHEAD of the U.S. release. Needless to say we're now saving up for our trip to Paris which is gorgeous in the spring ;) -- but in all seriousness if that date holds, it hints at a promo tour that will get started overseas and then head back to the U.S. That wouldn't be a surprise after hearing from Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes. Today he called 2013 a "banner year" crediting films like Man of Steel for helping Warner Bros. cross the $5 billion mark in revenue for the first time.

THRThe movies were especially popular oversees, taking in $3 billion collectively.

We'll get a better idea of how the promo tour is shaping up as release dates come in. The Hollywood Reporter did some digging on the Jesse Eisenberg casting as Lex Luthor, and found out who reportedly passed on the role (Joaquin Phoenix) and who was never approached despite being a fan favorite (Bryan Cranston). Also Lex could very well not be bald this time around:

The studio is so tight-lipped about what that might mean, it declined to confirm whether The Social Network Oscar nominee will shave his curly mop. After all, in his earliest DC Comics appearances, Lex is shown with a full head of red hair.

Read the rest. On the Batman front (via), Ben Affleck's buddy Matt Damon shared some details on what he knows about the film:

I have seen a picture. It’s excellent. And I’ve talked to him about the story line, and it’s great. Look, I’ve known him for thirty-something years. I’d be the first guy being like, ‘Buddy, what are you doing?’ But I think the movie is going to be great.

Just last weekend Jennifer Garner told a Detroit radio station her family would be spending the summer in Detroit because that's where Man of Steel 2 will be filming. Now in an interview with Radio Times magazine, Jen talks about the impact filming is having on their three kids and whether she wanted Ben to take the role:

"Of course I was in favor of him doing the part. But the kids don't really get it. They don't really know those films. They'll understand soon enough but right now that's a bit of a fog for them.

Just in case Ben and Jen are still looking for a place to stay in Detroit, the Bat Boat is available. It will be on display at the Detroit Boat Show next week and the owner says it's up for grabs (via ManofSteelFanPage):

"We are hoping they choose and on-water residence so they can enjoy Michigan's unrivaled boating opportunities."

Just a day after the internet went wild with the latest speculation on who The Rock may be playing in Batman vs. Superman (if he's in the mix at all), Dwayne Johnson responded with this tweet.

All I said was.. RT: : Did reveal that he's playing John Stewart/Green Lantern?

He is just toying with us and as a fandom desperate for news we are SO taking the bait. Also, while at first we thought it was cute of The Rock to mention Superman, we're now on full defense mode. Don't mess with our Supes!

Finally, Superman has joined the Infinite Crisis video game and he looks EXACTLY like Henry Cavill. At least in the promo shot. Hmm.. and we do like the loose curl on the animated version. #curlgate

Learn about Superman's skills and more at their site. We'll just stay here and swoon over the video game version of Henry for a bit..

Five Things We Learned From Latest Fan Encounter In Detroit

Hello longer hair and scruff, is this a look we'll be seeing in Man of Steel 2?

It's been a busy past few days here at Henry Cavill News, after Henry was spotted during an outing in his temporary home of Detroit.

What started as a sweet story of him learning sign language turned into a fan boy/girl's dream, after the pics and details from that night came out. (Again, thanks to our reader for letting us know).

Here are the five things we learned from that fan encounter at a suburban Detroit bar Friday night:

1) Despite what you may have read online, according to Gjonnyboy on IMDb, there's no major chaos going on behind the scenes of Man of Steel 2:

Given all the new seemingly negative word around the development; I wanted to reassure anyone who even remotely cares that MOS2 is on like donkey kong. I got the word from the man himself.

2) Filming on Man of Steel 2 could have already started. When Gjonnyboy shared what he claims Henry told him, he mentioned "they have been filming in Pontiac." As you know that is where the Michigan Motion Picture studios are located, but according to Warner Bros. filming isn't supposed to start until at least April. Deadline later reported the major players have been "summoned" to Detroit for the start of filming. Gjonnyboy's account seems to support the Deadline claim.

3) Henry's beard and longer hair could be a big clue about filming. You guys definitely noticed it and provided some theories.

His hair is definitely longer! Does this mean Supes is getting his trademark curl back?

Curl is not enough, i wanna MULLETS

If they have Doomsday...in comics, during recovery, his hair grows long. Perhaps they are doing this story & filming first?

Because we have a beard too. He wouldn't have a beard unless something happened, right? :) hmmmmmm!

Elen's theory is not bad, but we also find Latino Review's guess pretty appealing:

Exiled Superman?

Look at Cavill. He’s got his “scruffy, emo Clark” facial hair on- complete with neck fur! If filming is truly underway, that means he has this look in the scenes they’ve been filming. Might Clark be doing a cross-country “walk of shame” after the destruction of Metropolis? Maybe.

Now the fan who met Henry also mentioned he's been doing some "heavy training," so he could just be letting the scruff grow while he goes about his business. But considering that we hadn't seen that look on him for quite a while, we're thinking there's a chance filming could be underway.

4) Mlive's Eric Lacy talked to someone who met Henry over the weekend and tweeted that he could be in Detroit for "up to 10 months." Could that mean back to back filming of Man of Steel 2 and Justice League? - it certainly adds fuel to that fire.

5) The most important thing we learned, or really just reconfirmed.. is that Henry is an absolute gem and very deserving of wearing the Superman suit. The way he carries himself whenever he meets his fans, really does remind us why we do the work we do. Proud to support such an outstanding guy.

Is The Sexy Curl Making A Comeback?, Latest On 'Sage & Milo'

As we quickly learned while covering this fandom, rumors are pretty much all you have when it comes to filming news on such an anticipated superhero project about to get underway. The trick is to try and sort out what's real and what's not. The latest batch comes via comicbookmovie.com, that mentions more on the alleged Ben Affleck injury and goes into detail about Warner Bros. supposed plan to "dethrone" Marvel. You can read all about it on their site. But the part that really got us excited was a mention about Superman potentially getting his curl back:

Henry Cavill will be sporting a new haircut in Zack Snyder’s untitled Superman/Batman film. His Kryptonian locks will be getting a trim. The shorter 'do will resemble Superman's look in Alex Ross and Mark Waid's Kingdom Come, minus the grey hair (...) Oh, and that hairdo includes Superman's trademark "S" curl, which was absent in the first film.

As the Man of Steel Fanpage points out and we constantly remind people when posting rumors on Batman vs. Superman, you have to take everything with a grain of salt. Or maybe a little more than that.

Make that 10 boxes of salt, each 1 cubic mile in size.

Having said that, the image of Henry sporting a new 'do is quite appealing, considering we've already kind of seen the curl in action and we love it! - It happened as we brought you coverage on the filming of The Man from U.N.C.L.E. last fall. During that time Henry was already busy bulking up for his Man of Steel role and as you can see in these fan pics, he owns the curl. Being Superman, just comes naturally for him.

While Henry's new 'do is just a rumor for now, we do know he will be getting an updated version of his Man of Steel suit when filming begins in Detroit (looking more like around April now). As for Ben Affleck, his lovely wife Jennifer Garner shared an update on his Batman suit, while talking to ET at the Screen Actors Guild awards Saturday.

Now to the latest on possible production locations, we had heard some filming would be taking place outside of Flint, Michigan. Mlive.com has more via the Flint Journal:

The zoning permit application obtained by The Flint Journal from Metamora Township in Lapeer County states that a "movie set" is planned for the grounds of a former Girl Scout camp.

"They say it's Batman," said David Best, supervisor of the township, referring to what he's heard from the community. He said he didn't know any official details but that residents along Caley Road had been contacted by the movie company telling them they'd be filming on a nearby property.

According to the zoning and building permits, the township approved the building of a "temporary structure" on the site.

A business card listed within the documents is for a location manager with "Sage and Milo."

That sounds like our film! - Read more at mlive.com, that kindly gave us a shout-out in their article.

We admit we were sidetracked by the news that the Man of Steel sequel has been pushed back to May 6, 2016. But we're over it. We've reset the clock and started counting down to the start of filming. Hope you'll join us for the latest updates, as we support Henry on his super journey.

Could 'Man of Steel 2' & 'Justice League' Be Filmed Back-To-Back?

Courtesy: DC Comics

This is most certainly the whooooa moment of the week and it's only Monday. Latino Review which has delivered some solid info on the Man of Steel sequel, hears that the DC project The Rock is working on, is The Justice League. Here's the catch, it's happening this year. But how could that be? -- their insiders seem to think it's because Man of Steel 2 and the Justice League will be filmed back-to-back. Latino Review highlights the reasons why that would make sense and more in their post, so make sure to read the scoop. News definitely coming in fast, as we get closer to the start of filming on Batman vs. Superman. Can't wait Man of Steel!

Henry Could Be Going Up Against Joaquin Phoenix In Sequel + New Writer Recruited

Variety claims Warner Bros. may be courting Joaquin Phoenix for the role of a villain in the Man of Steel sequel. And not just any villain:

Though sources couldn’t confirm what the role is, it’s believed to be for the main antagonist, which is likely to be Lex Luthor. Names like Jason Momoa and Callan Mulvey have been linked to the film but even if those actors are cast, sources are saying that they wouldn’t play the main villain, and that Warners has always wanted someone who would be a slam dunk in the role.

When we heard the news of this possible match-up, we couldn't help but smile being longtime fans of Joaquin. He has more than proved he can be a nasty villain, including with his Oscar nominated performance as Commodus in Gladiator. But it's his range as an actor that really gets us excited. With roles like Johnny Cash in Walk the Line and his latest performance as a loner in Spike Jonze's Her, he can definitely bring the emotions that could make Lex more than just a comic book villain in Man of Steel 2. Fingers crossed.

The Hollywood Reporter shared its own exclusive about where the script stands now for the Man of Steel sequel. Warner Bros. has reportedly brought in Chris Terrio to help finish it up:

David Goyer wrote the screenplay, which is based on characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster (Superman) and Bob Kane (Batman). But sources say Terrio has been brought in to get the script in shape before filming begins. Goyer has been tied up with a number of other DC Comics titles including Sandman.

More on Terrio's background at THR.  Updates as they come in!

Principal Photography is planned to start January/February 2014 with Henry Cavill definitely in as Kal-El/Clark Kent.

While word about Henry reprising his role as Man of Steel is not a surprise, if you believe the report we're now getting a much clearer picture of where things are headed. And we'd follow this smile to Krypton and back.
