BREAKING: Henry Not Returning To Play Supes After All

We have a sad update to report on the future of Henry as Supes. He says his return to the iconic role is not happening after all. Henry broke the news after meeting with the new DC Film bosses today. His post came at about the same time James Gunn shared the news of a new Superman project without Henry... though he left the door open for future projects with him.

We support Henry in all of his roles, and he will always be our Superman.

  1. What a complete fricking joke. Hollywood is dead if they can’t see this man’s talent… if they can’t recognize the roles he has built with said talent alone (with little to no help from writer, producers or directors). I will no longer support WB and Netflix and their idiocracy. Onwards and upwards, indeed.

  2. Dang it! Poor Henry, he looked so happy when he announced it. But, being Henry, he will take it in stride and make another awesome movie for us to enjoy ✌️😊 ❤️ We Are cheering for you Henry 🤗

  3. Unbelievable! Heartbreak! Ugh!!!! What a blow for Henry. However, I'm glad for the years of speculations and drama to FINALLY stop. Henry is/was the PERFECT Superman. I never cared for the decades of the "gee, gosh, darn" Superman iterations. Henry must be disappointed, but i know he'll continue with other wonderful movie/tv roles, and that his acting career will never be defined in a small box. Congratulations to Henry, you are finally free to pursue other roles you'll enjoy doing (and your fans will enjoy watching!) without the spector of Superman. I'm still looking forward to your other projects in the pipeline. What a day......oh well.

  4. There it is. I'm done with DC.
Henry as Superman, with Zack Snyder's grittier take brought me to their 'verse.
Now, so much messing around, delays, false starts, false hope and now stuffing Henry around like this... I'm gone.

  5. These fuckers!!! They had him on hold for years, they allowed him to announce his return and then this. I do hope and believe he didn't quit geralt for the promise of superman. I never cared about superman, I loved him as geralt way more. I don't think so, the direction of the show was shit but maybe if he didn't have superman on his sleeve he may have had fought harder for geralt and a change in the direction of the show and the writing team. I wish both productions a big failure. I wish Henry only success in the future

  6. Sometimes I wish Henry was less of a gentleman and exposed the executives and showrunners' shit. I wish he had fought harder for Geralt, he was the defining live action Geralt and we deserved him, we deserve better than the shitty show runner. Maybe he did fought and Netflix chose the quick money of the 10 spin offs no one asked than honoring the source material and the legacy of the show. And this is why it's destined to fail. Henry deserves better than DC and TWN. Fans are on his side in both cases and the studios are for a huge failure, especially the Witcher. I wish Henry a successful future as he deserves, he was always more than superman tbh, he made Geralt, people turned to the program just for him, he was awesome as Charles Brandon, perfaps along with Geralt his best performance, he was outstanding in MI:6, as Sherlock, in a very difficult role played by many strong actors (my fave is Jeremy Brett) and yet he only got praised. Resently Matt Vaughn praised his performance in Argyle and I can't wait to see him along with an all star cast. I know he's sad now because he loved superman and Geralt and he got screwed twice in his dream roles but he can concentrate on great projects and working with great directors and perhaps a day he may get a second chance with Geralt in a reboot, when the current show fails, maybe even narrate the audio books or we can get a Henry skin for a Witcher game remaster in the future. His legacy in the role will remain forever. I love the guy and his passion so much and it's sad to see he has to leave his dream projects bc of people with close minds.

  7. I wish his future career wise is big and I mean Emmy, golgen globe, I billions on bo big. And the studios who mistreated him to have the biggest failures of their lives. Boycott and unsibcribe from Netflix, boycott DC.

  8. Go get him Disney and other studios. Give him Star wars, Avatar, Knives out 3, Sherlock, Highlander, let him work with Chris Mcquaire, Matt Vaughn, Matt Reeve, Guy Ritchie, who wouldn't work with him? Even in his departure from DC and the Witcher he's an absolute gentleman.

  9. Tbh I was done with DC and superman after the josstice league and how Henry was treated during and after that and the whole cgi face. I was never a fan of him returning, he deserves better, but when he announced it I was happy bc he was happy and I was hoping in a good movie. But DC is shit and it is proven again. All studios treat actor as expendables unfortunately nowadays. I hope henry gets more and better projects in the future. He proved with Geralt and Sherlock that he is much more than superman. How many superheroes actors can say that. (I just wish his Geralt wasn't in Lauren's hands so we could still have him with us but his impact and legacy will remain and people will see how he will be missed in s4). But you know what? My grandmother says ungratefulness has short legs. These studios and streaming services alllienating the fans will pay it. They depend on our money and subscriptions

  10. I had a bad feeling this would happen. I noticed in James Gunn's previous statements that while he said Superman was a priority, he didn't say Cavill's Superman, so I was 80% sure HC was going to get screwed over. Again. It is really hard to watch this happen repeatedly to someone who deserves more respect for the work he puts in.

I was never the biggest DC fan, just because it was outshined by Marvel's X-Men. But I would have come back for HC's Superman. Now I have zero interest in anything DC/James Gunn puts out. Batman has been done to death, and HC's Superman was the only interesting version out there. I saw Black Adam only for HC's cameo, though the movie was fine. Personally, the loss of Geralt was much harder for me to take, because I love fantasy, especially dark fantasy, and that world was so rich. I may still be in vague denial over it, since we still have Season 3.

As with Geralt, Henry will always be Superman, no matter what strange and stupid decisions are made by overpaid people. The worst part of all this is how sad that post sounded. I know HC seems to take things in stride, but this... has gotta be a bad day. I'm glad he's got his girlfriend/family/friends to support him. If this news makes me want to beat a punching bag on his behalf, it surely must be worse for him.

Silver linings, though - DC is such a mess right now, with different egos clashing in an unprofessional spectacle... maybe its a wise move to step back from it. I would hate to see DC make a terrible Superman movie and then watch them hang it around HC's neck. With closure on this role, maybe he can move on to working with people who actually deserve his talent.

Sidenote: To those saying Henry should have pushed harder for the Witcher - we have no knowledge of whether and how he tried to make his arguments. If he did or didn't, we will likely never hear about it, because he is a professional who doesn't air others' dirty laundry. I don't believe he left because of Superman; I believe it was a clash of personalities that coincided with disregard for the source material.

  11. You are right, Lauren's ego couldn't tolerate someone with deep knowledge and Henry wanted better than the shitshow that was s2 and apparently is blood origin. And he loves this world and sapko's work and the fans to keep being in something that doesn't express him or the fans. He has integrity to phone it. And of course Netflix would choose Lauren's vision, it's cheap, it produces many spin offs and they think the fans will turn by the name of the ip alone. She cut character moments from blood origin bc she wanted people to watch in one sit. She doesn't care about the legacy of the show or the lore, but time is the best judge and I'm sure it will be on Henry's side once BO fails and s4 hit rock button.

    1. I hope S3 does decently well, even if S4 tanks. Let's give Cavill's Geralt a proper send-off. I'm not going to watch the spin-offs, though. I'll probably try to watch S4, just to see what Liam does, but I can't promise I'll finish it, the transition might be too jarring.

  12. Henry’s gentlemanly response to this very sad and very infuriating situation tells us all we need to know: he is not only Superman, he is a super man.

  13. DC is down the drain --- far as I'm concerned. Never again to support.

    1. Yeah, when my husband has sworn off James Gunn/DC, you know they messed up. He's most upset about how they're treating Patty Jenkins, but also Henry Cavill, Jason Momoa, and the Rock.
