Bye, Bye, 2015.. Bring On The Excitement Of 2016

Who would have thought Henry would join social media?

It's our biggest story of the year!

As we welcome 2016, we'd like to take a moment to thank Henry for always being so gracious with his fans.

When we started this blog we knew he was a top guy, and three years later our respect for him has only grown. We've been lucky enough to be able to bring you live coverage from some of his public appearances this year, including the Siam Cup and The Man from U.N.C.L.E. premieres in both London and New York. Because of that, we have gotten a chance to see first hand how kind and accommodating Henry is with everyone he meets. His work as a charity ambassador, has raised key funds for The Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund and Durrell Wildlife (a big thanks to them as well).

Henry's on screen work speaks for itself, with people praising his performance as Napoleon Solo in this year's The Man from U.N.C.L.E.

It's been a real treat to be able to bring you updates on all of Henry's latest projects. And with Batman v Superman and Sand Castle both coming out in 2016, and Justice League filming in London -- it's shaping up to be another very busy year at HCN. We are very grateful to those of you who help us keep this blog a positive place, with nothing but support for Henry. It means a lot to us, thank you.

Don't forget to head over to Henry's Facebook and Instagram, to leave your New Year's messages for him. Now let's get this 2016 party going!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

And you can blame Zack Snyder and J.J. Abrams for this awesomeness..

2015 Almost Over, And The Henry Mentions Continue!

The Henry year-end mentions continue coming in, as 2015 draws to a close! -- The Hollywood Reporter just called that awesome Batman v Superman cast shot above one of its best of the year. We remember that day.. they made fans around the world cry.

And we all know BuzzFeed has a big crush on Henry, no.. really (1/2/3). It is once again giving him a shoutout. Keep it coming!

Henry's visit to Ireland also got worldwide attention, landing him on RTE's Top Ten Stories of the Year:

At times it seems you'd need to be Superman to lift the gloomy clouds from a typical Irish summer's day. Just as well then that Superman, and super-hunk, Henry Cavill decided to enjoy some downtime on these shores in July. He was spotted having a great old time at the Groove Festival in Bray and was happy to stop for autographs and snaps with fans.

We're not exaggerating when we tell you he took pics with everyone there 1/2/3/4. Henry is always the best with his fans, and we can't wait to see what the new year brings.

Supes & Solo Get Some Love During The Holidays

Three months to go until Batman v Superman, and we're not the only ones who can't stop talking about Supes during the holidays..

Total Film also features Batman v Superman in its February 2016 issue, and the article comes with a new quote from Henry:

"Batman, he's angry and he's bitter. It's a direct continuation of what happens in the final events of Man of Steel."

You can read the rest of the article, that includes an interview with Gal Gadot talking about Wonder Woman over at HammerCavillnet.

And while everyone is talking Superman, Solo is not far behind. The Man from U.N.C.L.E. just made Collider's list of  '10 Best Action Movies of 2015.'

Cavill’s buttoned-up, measured demeanor has never been put to better use than as Napoleon Solo; the cheeky master-thief-turned-CIA-agent ordered to team up with Hammer’s Illya Kuryakin, a colossal Russian spy with inhuman strength and a limited sense of humor.

Locked in a (mostly) friendly game of spy-vs-spy, Solo and Kuryakin trade punches as freely as barbs in the espionage equivalent of a dick-measuring contest. The period setting and flashy aesthetics giveMan from U.N.C.L.E. an old-fashioned whimsy that sets it apart from its genre peers, offering a sexy gallivant around the globe that never takes itself too seriously.

Fans are also enjoying Henry's spy performance during the holiday break.

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like..

... MARCH!!!

You can imagine our reaction, when we turned the corner at our local theater and ran into DC's Trinity!

Warner Brothers has begun rolling out new posters, and the displays are going up (including at the studio).

Merry Christmas to us!

Today we also got a better version of the international Batman v Superman trailer, that includes new scenes with Henry and Ben (who we gotta say we're not loving in this clip)..

"It's time you learn what it means to be a man."

And who needs an Elf on the Shelf, when you can have Supes instead!

Thanks for sharing Steven. If you're still looking for a holiday gift, we put together a great list for you.

And don't forget to reach out to Henry, by leaving your holiday messages on his Instagram or Facebook.

Be safe everyone.

New Pic: Henry During His 'Driven To Extremes' Shoot In China

A nice holiday surprise from the expedition specialists at 'Max Adventure.' They are the guys who helped Shell put together the 'Driven to Extremes' episodes Henry shot in 2012. The company has launched an updated site that includes more photos of Henry during the filming of the show, as well as a promotional video that features him during his time in China's Taklamakan Desert which is one of the hottest places on earth.

If you haven't watched it yet, here is the entire episode - that includes a link to a really cool candid video shared by former commando sniper Aldo Kane, who is a member of the team.

Thanks for the share, Max Adventure!

Holiday Cheer: Last Minute Gift Ideas Inspired By Henry Cavill

Images: Henry Cavill/Chargunn90/Henry Cavill MX

Henry's festive mood during the holiday season has brought us several updates from London. From a trip to the Royal Opera House to see The Nutcracker, to a fun time at Hyde Park's Winter Wonderland.

We're not sure if Henry is done with all his Christmas shopping, but if you're still looking for some last minute gifts we have some great options for you!

Let's start with the ones that make a difference. As you know Henry is an ambassador for both The Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund and Durrell Wildlife. The RMCTF has a great online store with plenty of items to choose from, including the warm hoodies Henry wears all the time (which tells you how comfy they are).

The money raised by the charity, provides a better quality of life to serving and retired Royal Marines and their families. Here's the link to their store.

And we know you know about Ben the Bat..

Some of you have already received your awesome packets after adopting him.

Here's my #CavillConservation 'Ben the Bat Adoption' pack, which I received from @DurrellWildlife in the mail today. It includes... . 》HQ hand-signed photo of Henry visiting the bats at Durrell. 》Special edition Henry Cavill, bat adoption folder. 》Adoption Certificate to certify I'm an official adopter, contributing to the care of Ben at the Park. 》Bookmark with a photo of Ben the bat, as well as Henry Cavill. 》HQ Photo of Ben the bat. 》Bat fact sheet to discover why these bats need help. 》Thank you letter from Henry and Durrell for my support. 》2 Durrell magazines annually. Members of Durrell's family first got the exclusive news that Henry officially named and adopted the newest addition to Durrell's Livingstone’s fruit bat family via Durrell's 'On the Edge' Autumn/Winter 2015 magazine. Henry named his bat 'Ben' after his @BatmanvSuperman costar, Ben Affleck. How adorable! You too can follow Henry in adopting young Ben. By doing so, you’ll be joining Henry and Durrell in working to secure the survival of this species, by ensuring the future long term viability of the captive population, and in the wild. Just click on the link in my bio, or go to http://cavillconservation.com/join-henry/ #HenryCavill #DurrellWildlifePark #JerseyCI #HenryCavillAmbassador #BenTheBat #BenAffleck #LivingstonesFruitBat #conservation #adoption

But Ben is not the only furry cutie you can adopt through Durrell and cavillconservation.com. You can also help Henry's Gorilla family and shop at his store, where you can buy some really cool merchandise including t-shirts and hoodies as well.

The best part, is that all proceeds will help save the lives of animals that are facing extinction. This past weekend Santa paid a visit to some of the animals at Durrell Wildlife, and they seemed to be loving their treats!

It was feeling a lot like Christmas today at Durrell Wildlife Park...! Our orangutans, gorillas and bears tucked into...

Another great gift is The Man from U.N.C.L.E., which is now out on home video. It's a steal on Amazon right now, and it comes with some sleek extras! -- Here's the link for you, UK.

And while the Supes collectibles are starting to pop up (doing a separate post on that), Lego is about to come out with some Batman v Superman inspired sets. They don't go on sale until January 1, but the Wall Street Journal gave us a preview. Check out the details on their site. Yeah, we see you Kryptonite..

Don't mess with Lois, Lex.. she looks pissed!

Finally our favorite unique gift idea, came via one of our readers on Facebook. Kevin Orlin Johnson wrote to us:

I have no interest in this item, but somebody pointed them out to me, and -- well, look!

Yes, you can now order your very own Henry Cavill earrings (don't kill us, Henry).

Here's the link to them on Etsy. Happy holiday shopping, everyone!

Shanghai Flashback: New Pic From The Laureus Sports Awards

shindyxin: With Superman Henry Cavill #laureussportsawards #mandarinoriental

Aww.. now we're missing the beard again.

Shindy just posted her gorgeous shot with Henry at the Laureus Sports Awards last April. When we shared her pic on IG, she added that it was great to see him in Shanghai, and she hoped he enjoyed the city and event. Here's everything from that night

Batman v Superman: New Footage, Super Cereal, More

Sure, it's just a few seconds of new Supes footage.. but enough to get this holiday week off to a great start!

Check out Mr. Speed at about :24 in this new German Batman v Superman TV spot.

Apparently you can also now pre-order tickets there, and the movie site lists the running time as 2 GLORIOUS hours and 31 minutes. Keep in mind nothing is official, but that sounds about right to us. And get this, Batman's BFF Matt Damon just told Variety Ben already saw a cut of the film:

And I hear [“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”] is good. I haven’t seen it yet but he’s seen a rough cut and I think he’s very pleased.

If Ben saw it, we're now wondering if Supes did as well! #jealous.

You probably heard Batman v Superman is coming to your breakfast table..

And comedian Kevin Smith says he's ready!

Try to get that mental picture out of your head..

Finally, Lex Luthor is not letting Supes and Bats steal his evil thunder. Just as new individual posters for them were released, Lex gave a revealing interview to Wired Magazine. What can we say, he's up to no good:

We should all be careful when we elevate anyone, human or alien, to “super” status.

Read the rest in the article below, which also includes new pics of Lex.

So are we excited, or ARE. WE. EXCITED?! -- Three months from Friday!

Solo's Shining Moment Gets Props, Henry's Name Pops Up In 'Immortals' Sequel Talk

It was by far our favorite scene in The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and we're happy to see New York Magazine giving it some love!

The boat chase scene is among its 10 Best Movie Action Scenes of 2015:

Aside from the obligatory wisecracks, humor is often underused in modern action sequences, which is why Guy Ritchie’s (yes, Guy Ritchie’s) espionage romp The Man From U.N.C.L.E. was such a breath of fresh air this year. In what may be its best scene, dashing American agent Solo (Henry Cavill) and stoic Soviet agent Ilya (Armie Hammer) have to make a fast getaway on a speedboat after infiltrating a Roman shipping yard. But then Solo is accidentally thrown off the boat, swims ashore, gets in a truck, and takes a deep breath. Then he turns on the radio, sips some Chianti, and munches on a sandwich while Ilya, in the background, practically tears his butt off doing circles trying to escape the baddies. It’s a beautiful bit of visual humor, but it also gains elegant poignancy when, after Ilya’s boat sinks, Solo leaps back into the action by driving his truck right onto the villains’ boat and saving his drowning partner at the last minute.

Go Solo!

Henry also recently got props from his stunt double in the film:

Henry and I are pretty much the same height and build. He had to slim down from his role playing Superman in Man of Steel in order to shoot The Man from U.N.C.L.E; and I had to put on a bit more bulk to match him, but by the time it came to filming, we were exactly the same size. Henry is a very dedicated, intelligent and professional actor as well as being a very nice guy too.

You don't want to miss the rest (link below).

AskMen UK has a great new article that highlights the gorgeous suits Henry wore in The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and the choices the designer made for him based on his Superman frame.

And we're keeping our fingers crossed for composer Daniel Pemberton. The score from The Man from U.N.C.L.E. has made the list of the music eligible to be nominated for an Oscar. The nominations will be announced on January 14. The Academy Awards will be held on Sunday, Feb. 28.

A quick follow-up about a potential Immortals sequel. This past week Henry's name was once again linked to the film, following news of Relativity's latest move to get out of bankruptcy. The company listed the sequel, as part of a slate of projected film releases in the next few years:

By far the most profitable on the list is “Immortals 2,” which Kavanaugh has previously said will star Cavill. The sequel’s profile would ratchet up considerably from the original thanks to the actor’s current gig as Superman. It has a budget of $146 million with distribution costs $119.3 million — resulting in nearly $27 million in gravy.

Henry has not mentioned whether he would in fact return to the role of Theseus, and Variety reports that Relativity may soon find itself fighting for the rights to the film with one of its business partners:

A lawyer for Manchester Securities Corp., a subsidiary of giant hedge fund Elliott Associates, noted that the interim financing it has provided Relativity continues as the case drags on. While it remains hopeful a reorganization will work, the financier’s lawyer said: “Manchester has been very patient while we work with debtor and Mr. Kavanaugh, but our patience is not endless….We are not on board with this plan yet.”

Elliott also gave notice that it does not acknowledge Relativity’s right to a sequel to the 2011 action fantasy “Immortals,” saying Manchester could claim its rights over the film, which it said is held in its library. A lawyer for Kavanaugh disputed that, saying the title belongs to Relativity, as long as it pays a fee.

The next update should come February 1st, when Relativity heads back to court to find out whether a judge approves its reorganization plan.

RMCTF: More Of Henry's Interview With JustGiving

JustGiving has published more of the interview they did with Henry, following the nomination for his fundraising work with The Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund after he participated in the Gibraltar Rock Run. Henry is an ambassador for the charity, and attended the ceremony in September. We look forward to helping him in any way we can, as he tries to bring awareness to a cause so close to his heart.
