"Be Peaceful, The Cape Is Still In His Closet"

The Hollywood Reporter shook the DC world today, after reporting that Henry is out as Superman, citing scheduling conflicts and a change in direction at the studio. You can read their story here.

As the internet reacted to the news, Henry's manager issued this statement...

Garcia's post, was indeed followed by a Warner Bros. carefully worded statement.

"While no decisions have been made regarding any upcoming Superman films, we’ve always had great respect for and a great relationship with Henry Cavill, and that remains unchanged."

So that is where things stand now. We'll continue to bring you updates as they develop.

Henry has been an incredible Superman, showing how much he really cares about the character so it would be sad to see him leave the role. But you never know what's around the corner, and we have no doubt whatever decision is made, he'll come out on top.

For now, here's this from director Zack Snyder. #Hope

UPDATE: Henry's new post.

  1. Sad to hear this as I Loved him in the Superman role. I am very excited to see Nomis and The Witcher....along with, I’m sure, many other roles that will be available to him. Wishing you luck on your next endeavors Henry!

  2. So far I don't know whether the news is true or not

  3. Be peaceful? Why? What if I want to be up in arms? Seriously, they crap all over a beloved character and let our last image of Henry in the suit be botched cgi because of changes THEY decided to make... And we are to be peaceful? What's the sense of having a Cavillry if you never sound the charge?

  4. Be peaceful...I'm sure a lot of this is just speculation and rumour. But, even if there is some truth to it...and Henry playing the role of Supes is no longer an option...what will always remain is Henry's phenomenonal, passionate and very human portrayal of our favourite alien. Superman is only a small part of who Henry is, what he has achieved and what is still to come in his career. He will always be brilliant in everything he does, and he will always be a beacon of hope in the world for me. Forever my hero, my kryptonite...no matter what...I wish you all the very best of luck Henry Xx

  7. I am sorry but these cryptic tweets and statements don't tell us nothing! I am a massive superman fan have loved the character and those who have come and left the role. HENRY CAVILL IS SUPERMAN! DC/WB whoever is in charge need to treat him better. He's grown as an actor and he deserves a sequel. I feel Supergirl won't be as good not that she shouldn't get a film. Henry if you read this we have faith in you. You are the man of steel! and you deserve to be treated with far more respect. I apologise I am extremely upset! atm :'(

    1. I agree Anonymous Henry does deserve better treatment. WB's statement hasn't really told us anything, other than their relationship is still on good terms. That doesn't mean Henry is still the MOS... which is actually heart breaking for me, because I LOVED his take on the role. And finally after JL we saw the superman that many of us wanted. I hope that Henry, his team and WB/DC can come to some sort of agreement as I would be devastated to see him leave and for them to bring in a new actor. Maybe we can start a petition? or something like #SaveHenryCavillsSuperman. Regardless of the outcome or the stories to follow I wish you all the best Henry. Nicole x

  8. Looking at the comments, I think I’m the only one who is happy about this. It’s true Henry gave Superman more of the much need human emotions and watching his struggles to be human was wonderful to watch; with that stated this close door can now open up many more opportunities for him. Henry has stated that he would love to play James Bond, and ending Superman could give him that opportunity. The producers of Bond would never allow him to do both; Daniel Craig always stated that he passed up on other movie opportunities because of Bond scheduling. And going further back to Pierce Brosnan, he had to wait until his contract with the tv show Remington Steele was over before he was allowed to do Bond.
And don’t forget that Henry has a production company, and I for one can’t wait to see the great things his company will produce. Maybe he can produce his own franchise action theme movies. I just wish him the best of luck

    1. No doubt I wish him the very best! But since he said he wanted to play Superman again, I want him to have the chance. And selfishly, we haven't had our best Superman from him yet. Hints of it, but he was cheated. MoS2 was promised and instead we got BvS. Sham rush job. Who kills Superman in only his second appearance? They treated the character and Henry abysmally.

    2. I agree...Henry, due to no fault of his own, was not given the chance to fully develop the character as he would have wished. He has suffered and been treated unfairly by WB. The way that people in charge sabotaged JL was appalling. Hopefully though, yesterday is a sign that negotiations are back on track...that perhaps WB are finally working with Henry to develop a project that works for everyone. Fingers crossed ;)

    3. I am happy about this news so I totally agree with you. I am only sad about it in part because Henry apparently revered this role. I think he is so much more capable of being in roles where special effects aren't the major feature. I remember the Remington Steele/James Bond fiasco with Pierce Brosnan back in the 1980's. We wouldn't want that to happen to Henry. I am so looking forward to Nomis and The Witching and hope to God that Henry gets to play James Bond and more of Napoleon Solo.

  9. Thanks for posting that from his Instagram. He's seems to find humor in anything. The barking in the background made me think of Kal.

  10. Wonderful Henry, taking everything in his stride =) =). Proud of him, and love his sense of humour. At times like this, you have to laugh. I love the waltz music and doggy bark.
You can see Kal, the cutie pie, in the background, watching his dad...the reflection of his eyes in the darkness =D

  12. I did not sleep well at all last night! These cryptic messages played on my mind. Excuse my rant.

    1. Henry started this universe.
    2. Is deserving of a sequel.
    3. Ben as much as he's a good Batman has been signed for apparently 5 films (WHY?) when he wants out.
    4. WB just can't get it together, they have great actors and a lot of source material just stick to it and stop interfering in the directors vision.
    5. Henry loves SUPERMAN, he loves the character, the role, he works extremely hard physically and mentally to get in shape for Superman.
    6. Has never talked negatively about DC, WB or anyone he's worked with.
    7. This isn't fair and it's so disheartening.
    8. We need to contact WB and let them know Henry's fans want him as Superman.
    9. Bring Zack Snyder back!
10.Then we can live in peace.

  13. I didn't buy that crap for a millisecond. To be honest, it was more believable during that April Fools Day scare...

    1. Glad you did Deo because I was pretty worried to be honest. I love how Henry has become superman to many, Yes it's a character and yes it's just a role. However that's a gift in itself! to have fans all over the world show their love and continued support towards Henry. Just beautiful.

  14. Henry Cavill is Superman for millions of ppl around the world. As many see that Warner Bros. messed up what was a great opportunity to tell the wonderful story of Superman and his triumphs on Earth. MOS was a good movie and introduced us to Henry. As we became fans and were looking forward to MOS:2 what WB have us was junk but we still showed up at the theatres. Now we have even more nonsense out of the WB/DC descision makers and still no MOS:2. Henry and the Superman fans around the world truly deserve better from WB. Why they refuse to see that they are messing up again is amazing. Give us a MOS:2 with Henry Cavill and we will show up in bus loads. The story needs to be told and Henry Cavill should tell it.

  15. I don't want to believe this as Henry could have surpassed Christopher Reeves as the best Superman ever if WB actually knew what they were doing with the character. They started pretty well with MoS but ended up tarnishing the S symbol with subsequent movies focusing on other characters and shoddy storylines. None of this being Henry's fault but it seems that they have now blown their chance to make something special for such a beloved character. While it is sad news for all of us who love superman Henry must be counting his lucky stars to be free of the mess WB have made and can now concentrate on making quality movies like MI6. Good luck with your future projects Mr. Cavill.

  16. Il faut espérer🤞 qu'il garde la cape, car Superman lui va à merveille 🤩.
Mais ne pas oublier les autres projets 👍.
À bientôt pour d'autres aventures Mr Henry Cavill. Woof woof 😉
