'Mission: Impossible 6' Filming: High Speed Chase Set

From the director's mind to the big screen.

Six weeks after Chris McQuarrie shared this location in Paris, today he was back to direct a scene involving a high speed chase as Mission: Impossible 6 continued filming in the heart of the city.

The scene involved Tom Cruise and a still-in-a-straitjacket Sean Harris, apparently fleeing from a motorcycle rider. Neighbors and fans in the area got a front row seat to all the action. SEE more pics over at the Daily Mail, *but* there are possible spoilers in there!

Mission: Impossible 6 has a 35 day shooting schedule in Paris. Filming will also take place in London, India, and New Zealand. Stay tuned for updates as we follow this exciting production.

UPDATE (4/10): Filming resumed today and here is some of what was captured by photographers.

Action! 'Mission: Impossible 6' Begins Filming In Paris

The city of Paris was abuzz overnight, as filming began on Mission: Impossible 6. And both fans and photographers captured all the excitement, as Tom Cruise and director Chris McQuarrie arrived on set to shoot those first scenes.

Is the mysterious man in the beard Tom or Sean Harris? the villain was last seen being taken into custody in Rogue Nation (despite the actor begging the director to be killed off).


UPDATE: Sean Harris is definitely there, which means maybe Henry is not the big baddie as rumored..

This weekend's action is not just taking place in the air, a section of Paris has been blocked off to traffic for some scenes on the city's streets aka likely high speed chases.

Director Zack Snyder Shares Iconic Pic Of His Future Superman


If you haven't followed director Zack Snyder on Vero, you're missing out! -- Today he shared this epic shot and heartwarming caption.

It's hard to believe it's been more than six years, since Zack cast Henry as his future Man of Steel. Since then just like Zack, the world has embraced Henry's portrayal as Superman.

Henry has talked about the day this iconic photo was taken, telling Access Hollywood "it was mortifying" to try on the replica of Christopher Reeve's original costume. WATCH.

 "I was not in shape for the the suit, and the suit leaves little to the imagination."

It was that screen test in that suit that got him the job, and Henry went out of his way in the following months to make sure he looked the part.


But as Zack mentioned to E!, it was much more than Henry's "Supes look" that got him the role. WATCH.

"He's a great actor but he also has this other thing, this kind of earnest awesomeness that is unexplainable.. and that's what you look for. I think with Superman you can't hope for anything more than to have that.. that extra thing that makes him special."

'Mission: Impossible 6' Filming Details: Get Ready Paris!

Are you ready Paris, here we go!

Le Parisien has revealed new alleged details, on the Mission: Impossible 6 filming taking place in and around the 15th arrondissement (district) this weekend.

According to the paper, starting tomorrow the area around Garibaldi Boulevard will be closed to traffic ahead of a two day shoot Sunday and Monday. Parking will also be banned.

Two helicopters will reportedly fly over Paris this Friday and Saturday, taking aerial shots in the Bercy neighborhood and along the Seine.



Filming is expected to last until Monday afternoon, so keep your eyes open if you're there!

Tom Cruise has been spotted in Paris, along with director Chris McQuarrie. We don't know when Henry will be on set, but we'll keep you updated throughout filming.

Sunday, you'll have to rush to see Tom Cruise, but especially, as soon as Friday, you'll have to use cunning to cross the area of Boulevard Garibaldi, in Paris, in the 15th arrondissement.

 In anticipation of two days of Paris filming of the next "Mission Impossible" production 6 of the American blockbuster, a large part of the boulevard Garibaldi neighbourhood will be prohibited to all traffic and parking, well before they film on Sunday. The shooting is expected to last until Monday in the early afternoon, and the prohibition will neutralise the neighbourhood from 8am this Friday until 2pm Monday.

Moreover, for the needs of the film, two helicopters will be made to fly over the capital, this Friday and Saturday. They should take aerial shots of the Bercy neighbourhood and along the Seine.

For the fans, just take your binoculars and hope to see Tom Cruise, Henry Cavill, Vanessa Kirby or director Chris McQuarrie. The new adventures of Ethan Hunt (..) is due for release at the end of July 2018. Other scenes should be shot elsewhere other than on boulevard Garibaldi. So keep your eyes open.



The AFP has released a statement from the Mayor of Paris, that welcomes the "significant economic benefits of the shoot" -- reportedly amounting to about 25 million euros.


According to the release, production will run in the capital for 35 (discontinuous) days, which will allow the hiring of more than 300 French technicians, substantial accommodation expenses for technical and artistic teams from the United States and England, and an increase in activity for tech service providers (equipment rental, special effects).

The Huffington Post reached out to the city for details on the shoot, and this is what they were told:

 "We do not have the right to communicate on the premises involved in the shooting, but the neighbors in the neighborhoods are warned for the film's needs," said the City of Paris to the HuffPost before conceding: "The teams of the film are rather cautious about security issues. "

Mission Cinema, which manages filming in the capital, has contacted The HuffPost and given some details about this meticulous organization: "It is a film with many stunts, which involves intervention for example, the street management takes care of removing street furniture, such as poles, for the needs of the film, and the service that manages the green spaces of Paris is responsible for the protection of the gardens and lawns ".

Tom Cruise Arrives In Paris To Kick Off Filming On 'M:I6'

Director Christopher McQuarrie has been teasing for months, that Paris would be a key location for Mission: Impossible 6. And Tom Cruise has now arrived to kick off filming with a big rooftop stunt!






The actor was spotted with the film's director earlier today. The French press has been reporting that Tom will be filming some scenes on the helipad of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

Last month as McQuarrie prepared for filming in London, he gave Empire a preview of what we're in for:

“It’s going great!,” he enthusiastically told us. “We start shooting on April 10th in Paris. It’s a very different Ethan Hunt, I can promise you that.” Tom Cruise and Rebecca Ferguson are confirmed to return, of course, but McQuarrie teased some old faces returning from the franchise – ”including people you would not expect to be back.”

We asked the filmmaker how on Earth he planned to top Rogue Nation’s signature opening stunt, which saw Cruise’s Ethan Hunt hang of the side of a plane. “I don’t know!” was his response. “And I have to find out by April 10th. I may have found something today. I came to Tom with a picture of something and Tom looked at it and said, ‘That’s awesome! I want to fall off of that!’ It’s like, OK, I can see it on a poster, and I can see Tom falling off of it.”

McQuarrie offered no specifics as to what The Cruiser would fall off, but did reveal that M:I 6 would not open in such a bombastic way as its predecessor: “It starts in a very unconventional way,” he explained. “It does notstart with action. That was the hardest pitch of this movie.”

He also hinted that it would delve deeper into character study territory. “I’ve seen five of these movies and I don’t know who Ethan Hunt is. One movie sort of dealt with his personal life; the other movies are about people speculating what’s really going on in Ethan’s head. I want to know who Ethan is in this movie, I want an emotional journey for this character, and Tom really embraced it.”

His approach this time, then, was to say “‘I don’t want to string together a bunch of action scenes, I want to actually deal with character’. So I put Ethan in a bunch of complicated moral quandaries, and I’m trying to find ways to connect them – and then, ironically, the way to connect them was through giant action scenes.”

In addition to the locations McQuarrie scouted in Paris, his Instagram account is filled with photos from other places that could end up in the film.

For sure the cast and crew are headed to New Zealand, and media there say filming will likely take place in and around Queenstown. READ MORE.

India is also a confirmed location, and we got some details from Mumbai earlier this week.

Finally, there's word that Supergirl actor Fred Schmidt has joined the latest mission, along with Dean Ashton.


Last we heard from Henry, he was traveling with Kal as he prepared for filming to begin. But again, no word yet on when he'll be on set. Stay tuned for the latest Mission: Impossible 6 news as it happens.

M:I6: Henry Shares Traveling Update, Gives Props To Kal

Today Henry updated fans, as he prepares to join the Mission: Impossible 6 production with filming set to begin this weekend.

India's Mid-Day is reporting that principal photography will kick off in Paris, before moving on to London, New Zealand and Mumbai this fall:


A source close to the production tells mid-day, "The team will shoot in India for a month, later this year."

The locations will be chosen depending on the stunts conceived. Of the cities being considered, Mumbai will be a prime location [for filming]. They're also looking at Rajasthan and Kerala, but details are yet to be finalised. From a co-ordination point of view, [shooting in Mumbai] makes work easier for the crew."

The Hollywood unit will recruit the Indian crew that was associated with the 2011 instalment, and arrive here for a month-long recce in June. Filming will kick-off in Paris, followed by a schedule in London, after which, Tom is expected to arrive in India in October for two major schedules. "The details of the Indian schedule will be finalised after the first meeting with the [Indian] crew. The [Hollywood] team is also in talks with Mumbai-based casting agents to scout for local talent for the film's supporting cast," says another source, adding that the unit will consider approaching an all-Indian art direction and styling team and a leading Indian stunt director. "With a good portion of outdoor shots, India will make more than a blink-and-miss appearance this time," the source adds.

Tom, who was in the country in 2011 only to make it for the Ghost Protocol premiere, will film for two weeks this time around. The sixth instalment of Christopher McQuarrie-directed 'Mission Impossible' will have an emotional undertone, which, according to the director, will offer viewers a glimpse into what Ethan Hunt "the person is like".

India is often regarded as a challenging filming location for Hollywood crews as the production process can be bureaucratic and the cities are hectically busy. The Oscar-nominated feature Lion recently shot in Kolkata (formerly Calcutta).

Paris is now a more viable filming location for big-budget Hollywood shoots since its Tax Rebate for International Productions (known as TRIP) got a boost at the beginning of last year. The change resulted in a sharp increase in foreign production spending from €57m to €152m in just 12 months, spearheaded by Christopher Nolan’s Second World War feature Dunkirk.

New Zealand also offers world-class studios and filming incentive support that can reach 25% of eligible local spending. National movie hub Wellington has had a profile boost hosting the sci-fi feature Ghost in the Shell and Auckland recently became home to the country’s first permanent water tanks after specialist facilities were built for the production of shark movie Meg.

Goodbye Winnipeg: 'Nomis' Wrap Pics Keep Coming

A few days after Henry wrapped on Nomis, we're getting a new look at him behind the scenes. It comes courtesy of one of his SWAT team costars, who posted the photo on his Instagram account.

Actress Eliana Jones also said goodbye to the cast and crew, with more of the super cute posts she's been sharing throughout filming.











It wasn't just Henry she turned into a bunny! -- Thanks for the set updates everyone, we'll be cheering for you all when Nomis hits theaters next year.

'Mission: Impossible 6' Update, 'Sand Castle' Out This Month!

Now that Henry has wrapped Nomis, his focus will shift to Mission: Impossible 6. Pre-production for the film is underway, and this week director Christopher McQuarrie shared a look at Simon Pegg as he prepares to return to his role as Benji in the series. As expected, it appears some of the filming will take place at Pinewood Studios outside of London where some of Rogue Nation was shot.

When McQuarrie invited Henry to join the next mission, his photo was from New Zealand. Other confirmed locations include Paris and India. Mumbai served as a background for scenes in Ghost Protocol.

Filming is expected to run from April 8th/10th through at least September, but there is no word on when Henry will be shooting his scenes. Look for updates as we get them.

In the meantime, Sand Castle is almost here!

The war drama will premiere on Netflix on Friday, April 21st. Just like with Nomis and M:I6, we don't know much about Henry's role in the film. But that only makes us more excited to find out all about Captain Syverson.
