Almost Time: We're Rooting For You RMCTF!

Time flies!

It's been almost a year, since Henry gave it his all at the Rock Run in Gibraltar. He was there to raise funds for the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund, and did a brilliant job representing the charity as their ambassador.

Henry's brother Nik, who is a Lieutenant Colonel in the Royal Marines ran with him that day. Back then Henry told us why he's so inspired by him:

"The type of things that marines go through, is a hardship which none of us are accustomed to really. I mean my idea of a hard day is his idea of  an easy day. So when you start to struggle a bit throughout the day you think.. it could be a lot worse."

Thanks to Henry's effort in Gibraltar, he's now nominated for Celebrity Fundraiser of the Year at the JustGiving awards and the ceremony is tomorrow.

The awards will be presented in London, and Henry is expected to be there along with the RMCTF team. Look for updates as they come in.
Go get them you guys, we're very proud of you and will be rooting for you!

Alyssa14xx: "Casual run in with Superman!!"

It was an intense game between Japan and South Africa at the Rugby World Cup today, and Henry was out enjoying the action..

He then ran into this lucky group of girls... UPDATE: Wait, is that Gal Gadot??.. Superman and Wonder Woman hanging out in London?!.. if not she's her double, pretty!

Gal is in London, as she gets ready to start filming Wonder Woman.. but the general consensus is that it's not her.

It's no secret that Henry is a huge rugby fan (he used to play when he was younger), supporting not only his hometown team at various matches including the Siam Cup in May, but also his country -- How many times have you seen him wear that beanie of his? ;)

Today we're sure he'll be cheering for England (UPDATE: New pics at the top), as the team takes on Fiji in the opening game of the Rugby World Cup.  If you want to follow the action, here's a video preview of today's matchup. The Wall Street Journal also has a really great breakdown for those of you not too familiar with the game, plus a few more pointers below.

Of course if you go by this puggle who is apparently the ultimate expert, England has the winning edge tonight (also, we bet Kal could outguess the puggle :p)..

Good luck to England, enjoy the game everyone!

UPDATE #2: Congratulations England!

P.S. We're rooting for the U.S. as well, their first game is on the 20th.

Henry Reportedly Circling Role In "The Virginian"

The Tracking Board is reporting that Henry is among the actors interested in starring in "The Virginian:"

Though it’s only been on the market for a mere few days, Michael Russell Gunn’s revolutionary spec is red hot and garnering attention from some A-list talent. Sources exclusive to The Tracking Board report that CAA is working to package the script with a star and is making motions to lock down territories. Our sources confirm that Michael Fassbender, Henry Cavill and Charlie Hunnam are the stars circling the historical action/drama.

Pitched in the tone of Braveheart and The Patriot, the story follows the life of George Washington, a complicated man who would rise to become the first President of the United States.

The Virginian is already into a handful of territories, including Fox, Universal, Paramount, Sony, and Warner Bros. Paradigm’s David Boxerbaum and Adrian Garcia took this one out, along with Principato-Young Entertainment’s David Gardner. The script is Gunn’s first spec, though he recently worked as an executive story editor and writer on ABC’s mystery drama series The Whispers.

It’s no wonder that some of Hollywood’s top leading men are swarming, as the script’s all the buzz around town and is a guaranteed awards contender. Presidents are always surefire Oscar bait, as recently proved by Daniel Day Lewis’s win with Lincoln. This rugged portrayal of the founding father is already attracting studio interest, but will immediately be set up and launched into priority development following an attachment (..)

Cavill is an inspired choice, having burst onto the scene playing Theseus in Immortals, and a little known character called Superman in Warner Bros.’ Man of Steel. Most recently appearing in Guy Ritchie’s spy drama The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Cavill is next starring opposite Ben Affleck for Warner’s heavily-anticipated Man of Steel-follow-up, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Oh, and he’ll also be back for a slew of sequels and spinoffs, including a Justice League film. He’s repped by CAA and United Agents.

Sounds really exciting! - Read the rest at The Tracking Board and look for more details as we get them.

U.N.C.L.E. Available To Pre-Order, BTS Awesomeness, More

This weekend brings news we couldn't wait to share with you!

The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Blu-ray/DVD combo pack is now available to pre-order in the U.S. -- Amazon UK has been offering that option for a while, but it just recently became available on their American site. Here's the link to pre-order your copy today. No word on what extras it comes with or when it will be released, but we'll stay on top of it for you.

One place you definitely want to check out, is the behind the scenes section over at manfromuncle.com -- There is some really cool stuff in there, including never-before-seen pictures of the cast like the one at the top that shows Henry and his costars chillin' between takes with director Guy Ritchie.

And here's some behind the scenes awesomeness you have to see!

Cinesite was in charge of some of the visual effects for The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and they've just put out an article that showcases their work which is simply amazing. Make sure to try out the slider at the bottom of the post to see the movie magic they created.

FX Guide also has an excellent article that breaks down some of their work in key moments of the film, including the opening car chase and the boat scene. It includes b-roll involving some of Henry's work, and the clip below that highlights some of what they did. Don't miss it.

And remember that scene *spoiler ahead* -- where Illya is surprised to see an aircraft carrier?..

Okay, what we remember is Henry being his witty-self as Solo ;) anyway, the scene is one of the funny moments in U.N.C.L.E. and this following article praises director Guy Ritchie for his accuracy in portraying the era. It's also a must-read.

The film had its French premiere at the Deauville Film Festival this weekend (no stars in attendance), and people seemed to really like it!

The Man from U.N.C.L.E. opens in France on Wednesday, September 16th. You know what to do, reprΓ©senter!

Henry was busy filming The Tudors when he gave the following interview to the magazine:

Actor Henry Cavill reveals how to travel with ease through times and time periods.

The best measure of a man is how he thrives when he’s out of his element, not in it. Just ask Henry Cavill, who maintained his cool in 16th-century garb, jousting on horseback and seducing fair maidens in the Showtime period drama The Tudors, which wrapped up its 4-season run in 2010.

The actor admits that although many of his costume pieces weigh him down, they also help him delve into his conniving character, Charles Brandon, Duke of Suffolk. “When you’re in the moment, you don’t really notice the restriction,” he says.

The 25-year-old Brit has played in enough period pieces to know how to handle himself in a pair of breeches. Before his role as court conspirator and best buddy to Henry VIII in The Tudors, he played supporting parts in the classics The Count of Monte Cristo and Tristan & Isolde. In Joel Schumacher’s 2009 film Town Creek, Cavill put aside his lance to play the lead in a modern-day horror flick.

Cavill still hasn’t secured a big blockbuster, and it’s not for lack of trying — he was short-listed for lead roles in Batman Begins and Superman Returns. But there’s time for all that. At 22, Cavill came close to landing a dream part as James Bond — a plum eventually won by Daniel Craig. Cavill still savors the memory of his audition, which included an all-day fight sequence after hours of training. “It was really painful,” he recalls, grinning. “I felt like I had been genuinely beaten up by the end of the day.”

Not that the physical challenge bothered him. As the second youngest of five brothers, Cavill is naturally drawn to hand-to-hand combat and a love of sports. “I’m from a family of six men, so I’m bound to be physical,” says the (reluctantly) retired rugby player.

These days, most of Cavill’s exploits involve traveling. A stretch from 2008-2009 mixing work and pleasure took him to four continents. In 2008, he took up residence in New York City for a month while filming a Woody Allen movie with Evan Rachel Wood and Patricia Clarkson. Then he traveled back to Dublin to continue work on The Tudors. “I never stay in one place long enough to develop a routine,” says the native of Jersey, a small island between England and France. “It can be unsettling, but I’m not complaining.”

Cavill doesn’t mind, because he knows working actors are like sharks: They need to keep moving or they’ll die. “I like to go full bore into something,” he says, sounding as resolute as the duke he played on TV. “If you have a backup plan, then you’ve already admitted defeat.”

HENRY'S HOW TO's: TIPS ON FEELING AT EASE IN THE WORLD

Choose Personality Over Looks

Cavill’s favorite places to travel are those that have the most charm and character — whether it’s the laid-back outdoor culture of Perth, Australia, or the always-frenetic pace of New York City. “I prefer a place that has a certain energy to it — something with soul and its own identity, its own vibe,” he says. “A place where people tell you they’re from, proudly.”

Comfort Is Essential

When he hits the road, Cavill likes to wear a comfortable sweater and cozy socks to keep his feet warm. “I’ve traveled enough on planes to realize it’s not about how you look — it’s about how you feel,” he says. The actor’s preferred in-flight entertainment? A fantasy book from his favorite author, Robert Jordan.

Always Dress The Part

In his off time around Dublin, Cavill kicks back in jeans and a T-shirt or Henley topped with a leather jacket. “If it’s light, you can wear it most of the year, and it can stop you from getting drenched,” he says. As the face of Dunhill cologne, Cavill includes in his formal wardrobe plenty of Dunhill suits and the label’s cashmere-wool overcoat.
Seek Out the Local Flavors

After a long day on the set of The Tudors, Cavill liked to grab a steak at Shanahan’s on the Green and follow it up with a beer at Kehoe’s Pub. “When you go to Dublin, it’s all about Guinness,” he explains. What makes a Kehoe’s pint superior? “I’ve heard the trick of Guinness is how continuously it is poured. If the pipes in the pub are constantly working, it will always taste fresh.”

Don't miss Henry's new interview for Men's Health, as he promoted The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (now in theaters). It includes some very hot photos! #beardlove
