GO WILD FOR DURRELL

FRIDAY 23rd FEBRUARY 2018

WEAR IT, BAKE IT OR WORKOUT…… WILD!

Durrell is excited to announce its inaugural ‘Go Wild for Durrell’ fundraising day, an initiative supported by our global ambassador Henry Cavill.

Take a walk on the wild side, and unleash your animal spirit to help raise funds for Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust.

On Friday 23rd February, Durrell is calling on all its supporters, anywhere in the world to enjoy a day of wild activities and fundraise wildly for the world’s endangered species.

Whether you’re at home, in the workplace, at school, or part of a club or team, Durrell invites you to come up with your unique take on ‘wild’, and take part in an animal-inspired fundraising activity of your choice.

Speaking on behalf of Durrell, Alex Shears, Head of Communications and Fundraising commented “The work we do both in Jersey and all over the world is really serious, but getting involved in ‘Go Wild for Durrell’ is a really fun way to support our mission and help protect the world’s wildlife. I am really excited to see all the creative ways that people take part in this initiative.”

What is ‘Go Wild for Durrell’?

This is Durrell’s first fundraising event of this kind, which is planned to be an annual event. Whether you’re at home, in the workplace, at school, or in a club, Durrell wants you to take part in an animal inspired activity to raise funds for Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust.

Did you know that Durrell is an international charity and that it costs over £8 million to run every year? Since 1959, Durrell have been on a mission to save species from extinction, and we need your help now more than ever!

Taking part in ‘Go Wild for Durrell’ is a fun way to raise money and awareness for endangered species. Please, help Durrell protect our beautiful, wild, world.

What’s your WILDEST fundraising idea?

"I Feel Honored That There's A Ben Affleck Bat Flying Around"

How time flies!

It's been almost two years, since Henry met and adopted Ben the bat at Jersey Zoo.

As the conservation trust celebrates Bat Appreciation Month with a look at baby Ben's mom Claudia, we have a new quote from Ben Affleck talking about Henry's adopted #batson... who is very appropriately named after him:

"I feel honored that there's a Ben Affleck bat flying around. Henry does great work for the zoo and elsewhere for the animal kingdom, it's incredible to see his passion and commitment."

The quote comes from the latest issue of The Rake magazine, where Henry also talks about his work for Durrell Wildlife:

"I have always loved animals, I have always loved the natural world, and I have loved learning about these incredible living creatures on our planet. I thought if I am going to throw my weight behind a charity, it has to be something that I am passionate about."

Henry has been ambassador for the charity since 2014, participating in several fundraising events including The Durrell Challenge that will return next year. You can learn all about his involvement with Durrell by visiting cavillconservation.com, where you can also adopt Ben the bat!

The Durrell Challenge: No Knee Injury Is Stopping Superman

After Henry announced he had hurt himself and we saw that knee brace on him in Kansas City, we were beginning to wonder if he'd be ready to run The Durrell Challenge.

Now we have the answer! -- Today Henry confirmed with this funny clip, that he's begun training for the 13K race as he recovers from his injury.

You can join him, and even get a discount if you register by the end of this month... which should give you just enough time to prepare for the May 14th race.

Henry's resilience, just the push we needed to commit to the run. And of course we'll also be there to cover it.

See you all there!
