Cavill Conservation: Henry Bids Good Luck To Fundraising Team

It was just a few weeks ago, that Henry was busy in Jersey supporting Durrell Wildlife. He attended the Ugly Bug Ball, and he spent the next day at the park. While there he wished good luck to a team headed to the Amazon on a fundraising mission, and today Durrell shared that video. Check it out below.

You may remember a few weeks ago we told you about the extraordinary challenge taken on by Pete Wright and Steve Hayes....
Posted by Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust on Friday, October 9, 2015

As you know if you follow Henry's updates at cavillconservation.com, his adopted gorilla family lives at Durrell Wildlife. And it so happens that when he was visiting, a double birthday celebration was taking place. This week the charity gave him a big shoutout for showing up:

"Thank you Henry for making this birthday one to remember!"

Read all about it, and don't miss Badongo and Indigo's big bash! -- As we mentioned, the night before Henry was at the charity's fundraising ball and several people got to meet him. Among them were the band members playing that night, and one of them shared his experience that we thought you'd want to read..

I met Henry at the ugly bug ball in Jersey as I am the guitarist in Inside Job, he is indeed a very generous person that took time to meet and chat with us. Many celebs we have met are not so forthcoming, great to see a Jersey boy keep his feet firmly on the ground and fly high at the same time.

And Henry doesn't just show his support for the charities he represents at official events, he pretty much does it around the clock..

Thanks for sharing your comments everyone, stories like these are really great to hear.

Henry To Play Special Forces Captain In War Drama 'Sand Castle'

Deadline just broke the news that Henry is joining his Immortals costar, Luke Evans, and Nicholas Hoult in 'Sand Castle.'

The drama is being directed by Fernando Coimbra (Narcos) based on the screenplay by Chris Roessner, with filming set to begin November 2.  Mark Gordon is producing with Treehouse Pictures’ Justin Nappi and 42’s Ben Pugh.

Here's more via Deadline:

Set in Iraq circa 2003, the pic is based on Roessner’s experience as a machine gunner in Iraq’s Sunni Triangle. The plot centers on Matt Ocre (Hoult), who is part of a mission to repair a broken water system in the dangerous and unstable Iraqi village of Baqubah. While the people of Baghdad welcome the Americans as saviors, the villagers resist their presence and Matt and his unit must try to convince the community that they are part of the solution, not the problem, in order to save the town and get out alive. Evans is playing the sergeant in charge of Ocre’s unit and Cavill is the special forces captain running the operation in Baqubah.

Voltage Pictures is handling international sales for the film and will present it at next month’s American Film Market. Producers hold U.S. rights to the pic, which Gordon has shepherded from the start. Treehouse (Arbitrage, All Is Lost) is fully financing. Brian Kavanaugh-Jones is executive producer.

“It took little convincing for me to come on board to produce this extraordinary and gripping film which so accurately depicts the intricacies of real people in extreme circumstances,” says Nappi. “I am excited about our amazing lead cast who, in the hands of our masterful director Fernando, will deliver the most powerful performances of their careers. Nicholas, Luke and Henry are a dream team, as are my fellow producers Mark and Ben.”

Gordon added, “Chris was my assistant and we worked on the script together for some time. It’s very exciting to see the movie come together with a wonderfully talented director and an amazing cast.”

The Hollywood Reporter adds a bit more about the screenplay's origin:

The film chronicles the story of Roessner's two years and more than 200 missions as a machine gunner in Iraq's Sunni Triangle. The story centers on Matt Ocre (Hoult) and the leader of his platoon, Sergeant Baker, as they attempt to protect Baqubah, a dangerous farming village.

Hoult has been attached to the project since early last year. At the time, THR also shared a bit more about the company producing the film:

The Mark Gordon Company is no stranger to war-themed films, having produced The Messenger and Saving Private Ryan as well as the TV series Army Wives. The company's TV credits also include Grey's Anatomy, Ray Donovan and Private Practice.

As for the writer, Roessner's script cracked the 2012 Black List of top unproduced screenplays. This past July he did an in-depth interview with the Pat Tillman Foundation, where he talks about writing the screenplay:

“At the time, I wasn’t writing it for my career, but rather just to keep myself sane. I didn’t expect there to be any grand attention garnered for it. Anything that continues to happen with this screenplay is still a big surprise to me. My initial impulse to write it was to get it out and say ‘I have all of this stuff, memories and experiences stored up inside me.’ If I wasn’t a screenwriter, I would have written a novel or something else; screenwriting is my natural way of interacting with the world though – so that’s how Sand Castle manifested. There was also the desire to hold on to some of the memories and tiny little moments that had happened in Iraq as time goes on – and I didn’t want to lose those. While I was in Iraq there were awful and beautiful moments, and I wanted to have a document so I wouldn’t lose those memories. At the same time, my screenplay was a big pie in the sky dream.”

Roessner also mentioned he would be in Jordan in September for pre-production of Sand Castle. -- Now things could have changed since July, but it looks like that's at least one of the places where they will be filming. UPDATE: Jordan it is! (and the scriptwriter has a sense of humor).
UPDATE #2: The director added a bit more..
This project sounds really promising, and the very busy Henry Cavill just doesn't stop! (and now we're thinking that's likely why he's growing the beard again).

We can't wait to see Henry take on this military role. He was set to play a somewhat similar character in Stratton (and he'd done extensive training for it), before he departed that project earlier this year. Filming on Sand Castle comes just before Henry begins promotion for Batman v Superman, and then starts shooting Justice League in the spring.

As always, you can look for us to bring you the latest information as we get it.

Congratulations Henry!

Daniel Craig Offers Advice To His 007 Successor: "Don't be S**t"

This came out of nowhere.. or not.

After first saying that he may be ready to leave the Bond franchise, last week Daniel Craig insisted he was in it for the long run. And then he talked to Time Out:

Can you imagine doing another Bond movie?

‘Now? I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists. No, not at the moment. Not at all. That’s fine. I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on.’ (Us: Wohoo!).

You want to move on from Bond for good?

‘I haven’t given it any thought. For at least a year or two, I just don’t want to think about it. I don’t know what the next step is. I’ve no idea. Not because I’m trying to be cagey. Who the fuck knows? At the moment, we’ve done it. I’m not in discussion with anybody about anything. If I did another Bond movie, it would only be for the money.’

And Craig is also brutally honest, when it comes to talking about who could replace him (Henry is often mentioned in the press as a top candidate for the job):

Do you care who plays Bond after you?

‘Look, I don’t give a fuck. Good luck to them! All I care about is that if I stop doing these things we’ve left it in a good place and people pick it up and make it better. Make it better, that’s all.’

You won’t be backseat-driving then?

‘Oh Christ, no. How fucking sad would that be? “Oh look, it’s Daniel Craig, he’s on set again!” No!’

If an actor was offered Bond and came to you looking for advice, what would you say to him – or her?

‘Literally I’d say two things. Firstly, it’s your decision. Don’t listen to anybody else. Well, do listen to everybody, but you have to make the choice at the end of the day. It’s your bed to lie on. And don’t be shit! Don’t be shit. You’ve got to step up. People do not make movies like this any more. This is really rare now. So don’t be shit.’

And if someone rang you and said: 'I’ve taken the 007 gig'. What advice would you have for them?

‘Don’t be shit! Go for it. Embrace it. Some clichéd line like that. But no, just make sure you’re great. You’ve got to push yourself as far as you can. It’s worth it, it’s James Bond.’

Hope you're keeping track, Henry! :p

Henry was recently asked whether he'd be interested in playing Bond after Craig retires (Henry was the director's choice for Casino Royale, before the producers went with Craig). His answer? -- "I wouldn't play the same kind of character (as Craig), but hopefully I can do something that will do justice to the legacy. Bond would be wonderful to play one day. Barbara or Mike (the producers), if you're reading this, give me a call.."

Batman v Superman Viral Campaign Kicks Off, TV Spots & Trailer Reportedly On The Way!

Okay so it's not exactly what we had in mind, as we wondered how Warner Brothers was going to start revealing tidbits from Batman v Superman.. but Lex it is!

The studio today kicked off the viral marketing for the film, with Lex's exclusive chat with Fortune magazine. And of course being a modern-day evil genius, Luthor has a twitter account that is linked to this promo image in the article (we already love you WB marketing team).

The magazine profile includes a new picture of Lex, but what really has us worried is what's mentioned in the story:

“Well, Dad was a complicated guy,” his down-to-Earth son notes as we pass a tasteful display of his world-famous collection of meteorite crystals. “He came from a country where the government, in the guise of protector, had absolute control over the citizens. That drove him. I get it. Heck, I’d hate to see that sort of thing happen over here.”

Meteorite crystals??. right.

Not only that, Lex also takes a jab at Supes..

Partly, the success of this young company comes from Luthor’s willingness to go where Wayne fears to tread. Wayne Enterprises has shied away from military contracts in the last decade.
“It’s a necessity,” Luthor insists. “We live in the most dangerous point of time in all of human history. Statistically speaking, it’s a near certainty that another world-changing crisis is hurtling toward us like a speeding bullet. We have to be ready to defend ourselves. No civilization was ever conquered by having a strong military.”

Speeding bullet huh?.. We are watching you Lex Luthor! (and we are also jumping with joy now that the "crafty" promo has begun).

This past week the MPPA gave Batman v Superman a PG-13 rating, revealing a few exciting details as they listed the reasons why they made that decision.
We are SO ready for the violence!

And the action..

And YOU KNOW who is bringing the sensuality ;)

You guys.. Benry forever!

To top it all off, if rumors are true we are getting two new Batman v Superman TV spots three weeks from today, and a new trailer Thanksgiving weekend:

The would-be scoop is that Warner Bros. /Time Warner Inc. is plotting to drop two new minute-long TV spots for their upcoming Henry Cavill/Ben Affleck superhero sequel on the night of October 26. The gimmick is that they will drop a Batman-centric teaser during an episode of Fox’s Gotham while they will drop a Superman-centric teaser during the CBS premiere of Supergirl. And this will all lead up to a new trailer premiering on Thanksgiving weekend primarily attached to Creed. Creed is, of course, the Michael B. Jordan star vehicle where he plays the son of Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers) from the Rocky movies.

About time this promo got going.. Let's do this Supes!

Henry Out Cheering For England At Rugby World Cup Match

We couldn't imagine Henry missing today's key match between England and Australia at the Rugby World Cup, and he was there!

Sadly England was eliminated, after losing the game at London's Twickenham stadium. But it looks like Henry had a great time cheering for his team with his brother Nik. Nice to see them enjoying the match together. We'll bring you the untagged photos when/if we get them.

Big news Solo fans!

According to iTunes, you can now pre-order your digital download of The Man from U.N.C.L.E. with an expected release date of October 27th in the U.S. -- That's just a few weeks from now!

Thanks to @UNCLE_Lexicon for the tip.

The movie has yet to open in Korea (October 29) and Japan (November 14), and those fans can't wait for Solo to sweep them off their feet ;)

For those of you who still have the chance to catch U.N.C.L.E. in theaters..

And a heads up for fans in Brazil.

Top magazine has a new interview with Henry where he talks about his success as Superman, Solo's sex appeal, and why being a fan of Bond contributed to him choosing to play the American spy.

For Dutch fans, the new issue of Gentlemen's Watch also includes an interview with Henry (along with some very HOT Solo pics)..

The New Editon ✔️ in Store now #gentlemenswatchmagazine #gwlifestyle #henrycavill #gentleman #fashion #watches #class

A photo posted by Gentlemen's Watch (@gentlemenswatch) on

The magazine interviewed Henry in Rome, and they chatted about him being chubby as a young boy, and getting teased:

Before Henry Cavill dons the red cape again in Batman v Superman:Dawn of Justice, in 2016, he blew new life into a 50 years old spy series The Man from UNCLE.

Gentlemen's Watch spoke to the 32 year old Brit exclusively in Rome. An eternity away from the set and an uncertain teenage Cavill. "You can say I was chubby" said Cavill dryly and with a grin. "I loved eating, overeating. I was also teased. That was annoying, but I'm not there anymore. It helps me to know where I do not want to go back to. Not that I’m now worried about carbohydrates, rich and sugar-free foods. I can still enjoy food, just like liquor and women, but in moderation."

Read the entire interview at Gentlemen's Watch #54. In stores now!

They include that preview (translated by Rebecca, thank you so much), but we'll try and bring you the full interviews if we can get the scans. Feel free to send them in if you have them to henrycavillnews@gmail.com, so we can share with everyone. Thanks in advance.

Henry's New Interview About Durrell, How He Makes A Difference

These past few weeks, Henry has been really busy supporting the charities he represents. Just this past weekend he was in Jersey, helping to raise money and awareness for Durrell Wildlife. Today World of Animals magazine went on sale with a new interview with Henry, where he talks about what inspired him to support the charity and create cavillconservation.com.

READ IT NOW (thank you so much, @Cavillsworth).

Last week Henry also attended the JustGiving awards in London, after he was nominated for his work with the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund. And while he didn't win that award, he was in a room full of people just like him, who by caring enough to do something for a cause, change the world every day.

Sarah's husband was among those nominated, and she met Henry that night. Her little boy is battling cancer, and her family's story is truly inspirational. So when we saw the note Henry sent Oscar signed "Superman," it reminded us why we are so proud to support him.

And we're not the only ones..
This latest act of kindness by Henry, also took us back to when we interviewed him as he raised funds for Durrell at the Siam Cup. We asked him whether he would ever ever trade his Hollywood career for that of an international rugby player (a sport he loves). His answer said it all:

"That's a tough one. You know there are a lot of great things about being an international rugby player, but I really enjoy what I do. And doing this kind of thing (charity work), I think I could help a lot more people as it stands."
