Giant Statue Going Up On 'Batman v Superman' Set In Detroit

This is a sight that definitely looks promising, a giant Superman statue is going up at the latest Batman v Superman set in Detroit. We had seen some blurry photos floating around, but held off until we got confirmation and that came today via Bananadoc who shot these pics.

You can see a shot of the building that will reportedly become LexCorp on his site. Batman v Superman scenes are rumored to be filming there this week.

Back in LA, today Warner Bros. announced its plans for a Batman Exhibit in honor of his 75th anniversary. If you live in the area, definitely check it out.

A great start to the week, the latest as we get it!

'Batman v Superman' Coverage: Tricky To Say The Least

When we decided to start this blog, one of our biggest fears was covering filming for you guys. We've done it before with different actors and studios, and we've learned you walk a fine line in trying to bring fans the latest while respecting the work of those involved in the filming process. If you followed our Man from U.N.C.L.E. coverage, you're hopefully familiar with what we're talking about. When news hits official outlets, or it's just fun rumors or Easter egg speculation we're ALL over it. To us, that only builds up the excitement of what's to come. But when it comes to leaks like in Batman v Superman.. ugh, murky waters ahead.

It's one thing to cover and open set after media outlets have reported on it, or there's pictures hitting the web. It's a whole other can of worms to share information that's clearly not meant for public consumption, likely happening on a closed set. So if you don't see us talking about a specific news item that's all over the net, know we have the best interest at heart for you guys and the cast and crew (we also don't want to get sued). Batman v Superman is going to be a great film and we are just trying to be responsible with our reporting. Hope you understand.

Moving on, the latest rumor that was quickly debunked by Gossip Cop, was that Emily Blunt was in talks to play Catwoman in Batman v Superman. Read the rest.

This week various Spanish sites are reporting that the Man of Steel sequel will open in Spain on April 29th, 2016. That's a week before the U.S. release. The sites reporting it say the word came straight from the studio reps there. More dates as we get them.

And for those fans worried that Superman is getting the shaft in his sequel, as well as in the planned big screen DC universe (and we've heard from plenty of you) -- Mark Hughes over at Forbes tells you why he thinks that's not the case. Yes it's just his opinion, but he does bring up some good points. So let's all just relax and.. you know the rest ;)

Enjoy your weekend everyone!

DVD Promo: Full 'Man Of Steel' Interview Released By Warner Brothers UK

It sometimes takes an eagle-eyed fan to catch the missed clips or pictures. Such is the case today, after Teresa found this hidden treasure at the Warner Bros. UK site. It's Henry's full interview with the studio, as he promoted the Man of Steel DVD release at the end of last year. We had shared bits and pieces of it, but this one is the entire thing! - Henry talks about his costars, favorite scenes in the film and much more. Watch above or click here to watch. Enjoy!

No Superman Sightings Yet, Set Locations Being Kept Secret

It's been a few weeks since Warner Bros. announced the official start of production on Batman v Superman, and so far there's been ZERO set pics of our Man of Steel (here's hoping we don't have to wait too much longer). When Gal Gadot was spotted reportedly filming a quick scene around that same time, we figured production had actually been underway for a while, and a local newspaper confirmed that. Candgnews reported that scenes for the film were shot May 14 and 15, at a market in Keego Harbor, MI.

Image: Candgnews.com

The news only came out after the fact, during a city board meeting. And that's how the production company wants it, according to Lee Anne Muldoon, publicist with Crown City Pictures:

“Unfortunately, we just don’t want the crowds out”

So the city kept the secret, with the city manager admitting only a select group of people knew about the shoot, including the West Bloomfield Fire and Police Departments:

“We had a couple extra (police) officers over that way to keep traffic moving and for crowd control,” “I didn’t even tell the police until I needed them.”

Well booh. You can read the rest at Candgnews. We completely understand the need for privacy when such a huge production is underway, but that doesn't mean we have to like it (and luckily for us, Henry has been spotted in and around Detroit).

We did get an updated picture from the Kent farm outside of Chicago via MaryFGualandri. Work appears to be finished there, we'll be keeping an eye on that location as we wait for Clark to come home (not expected to happen until fall).

We also got a bit of an update from costume designer Michael Wilkinson. He gave us a preview of some of the bling we'll see in the film (some say possibly on Wonder Woman).

As Warner Bros. continues planning out its Justice League universe on the big screen, its tapped a former FOX executive who helped re-launch the 'X-Men' franchise. Read the rest at Batman-news.com.

This past week we learned more about Batman's training team. Yes, there's a link to Matt Damon. THR got the scoop.

As to the rumors regarding additional cast for Batman v Superman, today Batman on Film is reporting Commissioner Gordon may be in the mix. We wouldn't be surprised if that's the case, you have to populate Gotham City with someone..

For those who would have liked to have seen Christian Bale return as Batman, this is the fan video for you. Thanks to the talented Osiria (CheesyFrenchy) for sharing it with our readers.

More to come!

Charming Henry: BEST. PICS. EVER.

This should be everyone's reaction after meeting Henry Cavill.

UPDATE: @AloraFalconer (IG) is the lucky girl who got these great photos with Henry a few weeks ago in the Detroit area. Thank you for reaching out! - below are the better quality pics Alora shared on Instagram.

"My dream came true. I met Henry Cavill!!! #Superman"

Her friend @NickRepp (IG) also got a pic with Henry that day. Nice!

Alora shared her story with us, about how she met Henry:

I was driving about ten minutes away from downtown when I saw my cousin posted a picture of him and her in her store (I checked my phone at a stop light..don't text and drive!) ;) I thought I would head down there to see if he was still there, he has visited downtown a few times since he's been here. He wasn't at the store but his car was parked right in front, sindi said he was going to get something to eat. I decided to stick around the store for a while and see if he was coming back. I handed out samples for the store, I wanted to do something productive while I waited haha. A little while later, nick says to me "oh my god, it's him!" I turned around and just froze. Another friend who was with us asked him if he would take a picture. In that beautiful British accent he said, "oh yes, of course!" I walked to him, shook his hand, told him I was his biggest fan. He thought that was amusing. I don't know what came over me, I said "take a picture of me like this because I've finally met him!!!" And that's when I threw my hands up in the air. Everyone thought I was crazy but it was so worth it!! :)

Thanks to Alora and Nick, and as always thanks to Henry for being so awesome with his fans. Have a great weekend everyone!

Batman v Superman: Smith Says It Kicks Off "Massive" Justice League Storyline

Image: @jock4twenty

It's not news some of you Man of Steel fans want to hear, but very exciting nonetheless. As you know Kevin Smith has been dropping hints about the Man of Steel sequel (he was the first one to tell us about the batsuit). Now in his latest podcast, he talked about a Justice League storyline that stretches beyond Batman v Superman and the initial JL:

“They’re obviously beginning something, and there’s a stretch of these flicks. And so this is the beginning of the Justice League, as we all suspected as they were announcing that cast. We were like, ‘This is the beginning of a Justice League movie.’ From what I understand now, it’s no longer like, ‘This is Superman 2.’ They’re not doing these things. They’re doing like, ‘Here’s Man of Steel. Here’s Batman/Superman: Dawn of Justice.’ The next one is not like a sequel to one of the characters. They’re just going to keep building their universe for about five or six movies. But all of them, it’s supposed to tell one massive story, which is all Justice League oriented."

Screenrant has more on what that could mean for Man of Steel. The article is a must read.

We also have an update from Detroit via MLive's Eric Lacy. He talked to an official who shared some location details involving Batman v Superman. Check out the entire Q&A at MLive.

Filming on Batman v Superman is underway in Detroit. We're bringing you the latest as we get it.

Charity Ambassador: Henry Launches Last Leg In 'Royal Marines' Challenge

Henry Cavill has become an ambassador for the RMCTF (Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund). Today he launched (by video link) the last leg of the Royal Marines 1664 Challenge that is raising funds for the charity:

In 2014 the Corps of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines will celebrate their 350th anniversary. To commemorate this date, Royal Marines Commandos will ski, sail, cycle, canoe and run 6656km (circa 4136 miles). The aim is to encapsulate the Commando spirit and Corps values in a significant physical and mental challenge.

Thanks to the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund for letting us know about Henry's participation in the event.

Man of Steel shows his support to Royal Marines Commandos and their once in a lifetime fundraising challenge

The Royal Marines Museum in Portsmouth will be the setting on Monday 26 May when British actor Henry Cavill officially launches the running phase of the Royal Marines 1664 Challenge. The event, which is set to raise over £500,000 for the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund (RMCTF), is an exercise created for Royal Marines across the UK to celebrate the 350thanniversary of the formation of the Corps in October 1664.

The Royal Marines 350th anniversary deserved more than an ordinary challenge. Skiing 1,664km across Norway was not enough for Lieutenant Colonel Gary Green, the man behind the 1664 Challenge.

The commandos initially set off in February to ski 1,664km across Norway, they then sailed 1,664 nautical miles to Cadiz in Spain, cycled 1,664km to France, and are currently kayaking across the English Channel before finally joining Royal Marine Units across the UK to run the remaining 1,664km around the country.

All this with the added challenge of raising half a million pounds for the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund.

Many would say the event is a bit ambitious and few would doubt this is a huge challenge, but it is what makes the Royal Marines unique. It comes back to the ethos and standards of the Corps, such as cheerfulness in the face of adversity! It’s these values that caught the attention of British actor and Superman star Henry Cavill who has chosen the RMCTF as one of his key charities to support.

Henry says: “Royal Marine Commandos believe in what they can do. They have the courage, determination and will to succeed.
They make sacrifices and take risks; regrettably, sometimes they have to pay the price for those risks. In recent years they have experienced a significant increase in serious injuries, wounds or illness through current operations. This has not deterred the men of this proud corps; on the contrary, it has spurred them on to help their injured and wounded comrades.
We should not forget what the Royal Marines have done for the country and the many sacrifices that they have made. Now is the time, in their distinguished 350 year history, for everyone to get behind the Royal Marines; and support this extraordinary challenge and this incredible charity.”

The event has already raised an incredible £250,000 for the charity, but the run phase is when organisers expect the fundraising to reach a whole new level.

From a 1000-man strong speed march through Exmouth, and a ‘Top Gear’ style race in Plymouth, to a ‘meet the Marines’ event in Edinburgh and an abseil off Guildford Castle, there is something happening in an area near you.
Fundraisers, including volunteers from the Royal Marines Association and Sea Cadets, will be shaking buckets alongside the runners and in the streets aiming to hit the all-important half a million pound target.

Head of Fundraising at the RMCTF, Rich Kenworthy says: “In this 350th anniversary year we are asking for the British public to get behind the Royal Marines and support their epic challenge. You can visit the website www.1664challenge.co.uk to find out when the Marines will be in your town or city or you can also follow the charity and the 1664 Challenge running team, on Twitter to keep up to date with photos, videos and stories from our journey so far. This year the Royal Marines have chosen to do something amazing by raising £500,000 for the charity- let us now all help them get there.”

Henry comes from a military family. His older brother Nik, is a Royal Marine who was awarded the MBE for his work in Afghanistan. We have seen Henry wear a green bracelet in support of the charity, and today we are very happy to help spread the word about its work. Please join us.

To The Fallen Heroes: Thank You, You've Done Us Proud

Superman stands for freedom, and on a daily basis we're reminded of the ultimate sacrifice real Supermen and women have made to give us that privilege.

Henry comes from a military family and has said many times, that he would have served himself had he not gone into acting. During the Man of Steel promo, director Zack Snyder mentioned that was one of the qualities that made Henry a perfect Superman:

"He is a kind guy. The funny thing about him is I think because he comes from a military family and his brothers are in the military, this idea of service – the kind of service Superman must take on – is not foreign to him, so it's not like a thing he has to put on, like, 'In this scene, I care?"

Henry got a chance to work with members of the military, when they played extras in Man of Steel

He also took part in two (1/2) meet and greets with them at Edwards Air Force Base, and never forgets where he comes from. So on this Memorial Day we remember our fallen heroes with a simple thank you. You've done us proud.

U.N.C.L.E. Reshoots Finished, 'Batman v Superman' Location Update

Today we have an update on Henry's two upcoming films. First up, looks like work has resumed at the Kent farm in Yorkville, IL ahead of Batman v Superman filming there reportedly in the fall. A fan just shot this video, check it out.

Illinois is just now thawing out from a brutal winter, that left the farm with a blanket of snow for months. And while it looked like construction was finished when Lauren checked out the location for us, it now appears work remains to be done. This week Warner Brothers confirmed that Illinois is one of the places where Batman v Superman will be filming. We hear Yorkville may not be the only location in that state where the cast and crew will be shooting. Stay tuned for details. Back in Detroit, the only sighting we've had of apparent filming was last Friday, when Gal Gadot and director Zack Snyder were spotted on set. As we did with coverage on The Man from U.N.C.L.E. shoot, we'll go case by case in reporting potential locations. Our goal is to bring you the latest information and pictures, without disturbing the production work if possible. Then again if a set is so big everyone knows about it, we'll share that with you as well. Speaking of U.N.C.L.E., you'll remember Henry was spotted doing work in Detroit for the film just a few weeks ago. Now we have an update from actor Dan Westwood, who gave us a really cool preview of what to expect from the spy film when we spoke to him last month. He just confirmed that one last round of reshoots took place this week, and this time around he stood-in for Henry.

Henry shot at Regent's Park in London shortly after filming began last September. You can catch everything from that location in these posts: 1/2.

Dan went on to exclusively tell us a little bit more, about doubling for Henry on the U.N.C.L.E. set this week:

I was only a costume double for him before, but this is doubling 'proper', as it were! - I had the costume fitting yesterday, two very dapper suits indeed!! Don't mind if I do...

He also shared a few details about last month's reshoots at the studio:

They had me up to my neck in a big tank of water outside in the middle of the night!! Which was fun...!

Dan is a funny guy as you can tell, and we can guarantee he will make a more than proper stand-in for Solo! - Less than eight months to go until The Man from U.N.C.L.E. hits the big screen. Look for updates as we get them.
