Bond Odds: Henry Climbs To The Top Of The List

Just as Henry proved that he can play a suave/sexy/witty spy, thanks to his performance in The Man from U.N.C.L.E. -- comes word that current 007, Daniel Craig might walk away from Bond soon!

Esquire UK:

There has been much speculation that Spectre will be Craig’s last film as Bond. I thought he’d signed on for two more after Skyfall, meaning there would be at least one more after Spectre.

“I don’t know,” he says. He really doesn’t know? “I really don’t know. Honestly. I’m not trying to be coy. At the moment I can’t even conceive it.”

Would he at least like to do another one? “At this moment, no. I have a life and I’ve got to get on with it a bit. But we’ll see.”

Craig's statements to Esquire have everyone talking about who should take over as 007, and this time around Henry is at the top of the list.

Henry wouldn't mind becoming Bond, in fact he was up against Craig for the role last time around. So we're not surprised he's been talking about it in his latest interviews:

Marie Claire UK:

"I wouldn't play the same kind of character (as Craig), but hopefully I can do something that will do justice to the legacy (..) Bond would be wonderful to play one day. Barbara or Mike (the producers), if you're reading this, give me a call.."

Esquire Singapore:

ESQ: Daniel Craig only has a certain amount of time left. Is Bond the next dream after Superman?

HC: I’m not quite done with Superman just yet. [laughs] Steady on. As I’ve said, many times before, I would relish the chance. It would be amazing. Who knows? And I think Daniel Craig has a few more Bonds left in him yet.

If Craig decides Spectre is the last time he's playing Bond though, another issue to consider like Henry mentioned -- is his commitment to Supes. For now we're just going to enjoy him being the popular choice as the next 007, and trust that if it's meant to be it will all come together. Henry is already a brilliant spy as Solo, Bond would be the cherry on top.

  2. Henry would be a great Bond. I think it could be a throw back to Sean Connery and Roger Moore. Based on Henry 's previous acting performances he has Bond qualities demonstrated by both Sean Connery and Roger Moore.

Of course the timing would need to be right. One would need to consider Henry's future roles in Supes related movie (s), Man from U.N.C.L.E.

  4. Oh please let Henry be Bond. I think he would be one of the best James Bond's ever. He is so right for the part. I saw the Man From U.N.C.L.E and he was fantastic. He does remind you of Sean Connery and Roger Moore, their sophistication and class.
    Loving Henry!!!!

  6. Tom Hardy has jumped up and is now the favorite. But these polls and odds are just that. Hardy's surge partly comes from his about to be released film where he supposedly turns in an Ocar winning performance.

Henry's Superman commitment is over after the first 2 JL films. That is all he's signed on for so that won't be a factor.

Of course Craig may end up staying for one more. Insiders at Bond supposedly think he will despite his recent comments.

    1. UNCLE took like 8 weeks to film. Won't keep him from doing Bond at all.

  7. Henry has the physique of James, he is as sporty as Bond, he has the look of James, he has the talent to this role. I am already happy that the name of Henry is among the favorites. I can't wait the decision. But I'm already preparing for disappointment. I think that Idris Elba will be chosen. The winner will be happy. I hope this will be Henry

    1. Jackman is wanting it though he turned Bond down to do X-Men. Its possible Craig stays on for the next one. Variety source felt Craig's comments were post-production fatigue. Got a feeling Craig stays thru 2019. Wish Henry had stayed with Stratton. Now is when he should be making more films.

  8. First Bond after next is 2019. Filming early 2018. Cavill's Superman contract ends in 2017 letting him step into Craig's shoes. Henry is not tied up through 2019 as some assume so don't worry. He has 8 year deal 2012 - 2019 during which time he's committed to make up to 3 films for WB with Superman. When JL2 done filming his contract ends. Justice League is a two-part film and in Hollywood land counts as a single film.

Routh was a bit different. 8 year deal 2005 - 2012 to make up to 3 films. WB chose to make only one so his contract didn't expire until the time period ended in 2012

Its like 3 picture or 2019. Whichever comes first..

  9. I really hope Henry is chosen. I don't see this Idris Elba as anywhere near what a James Bond would be. Not saying he's not a good actor but I honestly believe Henry is the right and only choice for the role. If it were up to me and I was the writer I'd insist he be given the part. If something I've written is ever turned into a movie, I hope at least in some way I'd have a say who is in it.

  11. I will stop watching James Bond if Idris is given the part. The character was written for a British Bond. If so, it'll be reminiscent of Ricardo Montalban playing Asian parts in movies. Too jarring for me.

  12. To put it in a NUTSHELL, Henry Cavill should take on 007 once he's done with Superman in 2018, he is right for the role; he's British and can handle shooting a walther ppk and driving the Aston Martin car
