'Durrell Challenge' Fundraising Winner Shares Her Story & Pics
Congratulations to Paula Morrell, who was the top fundraiser at The Durrell Challenge a few weeks ago. As part of her prize she got to spend some extra time with Henry, and you're going to love her story and the exclusive pics she shared with us. Please credit her if you repost.
This year, I made a bold decision, to not only fundraise for The Durrell Challenge, but to also actually do it. I am not disappointed in either decision. The course was tough, but knowing that I was helping Durrell with their conservation efforts, and that the VIP tent was waiting for me at the end, got me through it. There wasn’t enough time in between finishing and the VIP event for changing, or any kind of a proper shower, so a quick cleanup was all I could manage.
The VIP tent was nicely situated in front of the manor house, and inside the foyer of the manor house were drinks, and a wide assortment of tasty hors d'oeuvres, much needed after the 13K course. Henry was out in the tent, talking with the VIP runners who made the £1000 fundraising goal. Two of his brothers and his mother were there, as was Lee Durrell, Gerald Durrell’s widow.
After briefly getting some food and drink, I lined up with my friends for our chance to speak with Henry and get a picture. As I went up for my turn, the staff whispered something to Henry. At that point, I didn’t know what it was, but when I went up to him, he said, “I understand you’re a superhero.” I was a bit confused until he asked if I remembered how much I had raised. That’s when I realized I was the top fundraiser for the VIP runners. He thanked me for the funds (which ended up being a bit over $4600/a bit less than £3600), as it’d go a long way to support the work Durrell does. He thanked me again, and we talked briefly about how the race was, how many dang hills there were, and how the marshals were always saying “that’s the last big hill” even though there were more. I asked if he would sign the BvS poster that I had gotten through the Omaze fundraising for the Royal Marines Charity. He graciously said he would after everyone was finished with their pictures. We then took our pictures, and he thanked me one last time before I walked away. When everyone was done, I took the poster up to the table to give the staff so he could sign it.
I knew there was supposed to be a “surprise” for the highest fundraiser, so I waited around until they started asking everyone to leave. At that I point I asked about it, but the person I asked wasn’t sure, so she said they would contact me, since they had my phone number. I assumed they meant later, like in week or something, so imagine my shock when my phone rang about an hour later and Katie Arden, who handled the fundraising, asked where I was. Since I was still in the park, we met up. She apologized for not having the surprise ready before, but if I came back to the manor house around 3:30, she’d have them for me.
My friends and I visited some of the great animal exhibits while we waited for the time to tick by. Around 3:30, I found Katie at the manor house, and asked if she had the surprise for me. She said to give them a few more minutes. They were finishing up with the Superhero Stroll pictures, and as soon as they were done, she’d “see if Henry would be able to give them to me.” I had no clue what “them” could be, but I knew it meant I was getting to meet with Henry again, only this time there would be a good deal fewer people around.
So I waited, nervously. I wasn’t sure if being one on one with him would make it easier or harder for me to hold a conversation with him. Last year, when I met him during the 2016 VIP event, I was embarrassingly - and literally - left speechless by him. During the VIP meeting this year, conversation was made slightly easier by encouragement from my friends. But now, I was going to have to manage on my own. As Katie came to get me, I took a deep breath and told myself I could do this! LOL!
I stepped inside the tent and the first thing Henry said was “Come here and give me a hug.” Any remaining nervousness melted away at that point. He thanked me yet again for the wonderful donation raised for Durrell and how much he and they appreciated it. He then pointed over to a table where there were two stuffed meerkats, one dressed as Batman and the other as Superman. They were Sergei and Aleksandr of Meerkat Movies, a movie and rewards program offered in the UK. They had a promotional advertisement and stuffed animal campaign for Batman v Superman. Henry explained that they were limited edition stuffed toys from the campaign. They both came with certificates of authenticity, as well. Needless to say, I probably squealed a bit loudly over them. I said that they were both awesome, to which Henry said that the Superman/Sergei was the best. I replied “Well, of course he is!” We both laughed and started to pose with them for pictures.
Henry had Batman, and I had Superman. After a couple of pictures, Henry flopped Batman face down on the table. Tiffany, who was taking the pictures, laughed and said that was mean, but continued taking pictures.
When she’d taken a couple like that, I plopped Superman Sergei on Batman Aleksandr’s head. Henry got a big laugh out of that. After a few pictures of that pose, Henry and I then went over to the side of the tent for just pictures of us.
I ended up actually buying a piece of carry-on roller luggage to bring the meerkats back in. I just wasn’t sure I trusted two postal services or the airline baggage handlers with this precious duo.
Thank you, Henry, for taking time out of your extremely busy schedule to not only give them to me, but to have a little fun playing with them with me. It will be something I will not forget. Sergei and Aleksandr now have an honored space with some of my other Superman memorabilia and photos of us from the 2016 and 2017 Durrell Challenges. Hope to see you again for next year’s Challenge!
Thanks again to Paula for allowing us to share her awesome photos with Henry at The Durrell Challenge, and the funny story behind them. The money she donated went a long way in helping Durrell get closer to their fundraising target for the event. Here is the link where you can pitch in to help them and Henry accomplish that goal. "The Most Beautiful Woman In My Eyes Is Simply My Mum"
Hia magazine just gave fans the heads up about their interview with Henry included in their latest issue, and now we have it for you.
Our translator supreme Rebecca, was able to track it down and translate it from Arabic to English for us. She added that Arabic isn't the best language to translate into English, but she did her best. Thanks so much.
In the interview Henry reveals how his deal with Huawei came about, and on a personal level -- he opens up about his love and respect for his mum. Check out his chat with celebrity writer Adnan Alkateb below.
In London, the occasion chosen by Huawei to launch the new phone P9, I met Huawei ambassador “Superman” Henry Cavill in an exclusive interview for “Hia” -- the first interview with an Arab magazine. Just as Superman in the stories and movies is an ordinary working man, falls in love and lives a daily life routine, so is Henry Cavill. Hollywood star but modest, intelligent and a gentleman.
Tell us the story about your beginning with Huawei
Basically, Huawei called my management team. I think they are very excited to enter the European and American market, and western markets in general. Since they contacted the company that manages my work, I learned about the development of this smartphone and I got to know the company. I discovered a really wonderful idea, but it was necessary for me to try it out for myself. Before I’m an ambassador for any product, I must trust and believe what the user is doing. I wanted to visit the company and use the product, and make sure it’s something I can really use in my life -- and this is what I discovered about the P9 phone. So I had an opportunity in front of me, and in the end I was very lucky to work with them.
How do you see the future of this company?
With this device specifically, I think they will achieve tremendous success. But only time will tell. I have learned a wonderful thing from the general public and people, which is that you can not completely guarantee an outcome or the consequences. I really hope I get the opportunity to spread Huawei products to the United States, South America, Central America and Europe as well. It’s a wonderful product and a great company. I think they are having remarkable success in the Middle East. Indeed they are exploring success everywhere. I have traveled through the Middle East many times and each time in Dubai, I noticed pictures of Huawei everywhere. It would be wonderful to see it also in Europe and in the United States.
As you travel across the Middle East have you ever lived there, and when you have dealt with men and women from Arab countries how did you find them?
I have some Arab friends. I have not seen them for many years but I remember the amazing personalities, the sense of fun and playfulness. They always have a sense of humour and spending time with them is always great fun. I’ve never spent enough time in the Middle East to have a real opinion about the area. If I had visited more of its countries, I would be able to answer. I worked in Jordan for a short time and passed through Dubai more than once but only from its airport. I can say that the Dubai airport is very beautiful!
Who is the most beautiful woman in your eyes?
The most beautiful woman in my eyes is simply my mum.
What is the best advice provided by this beautiful woman?
(Laughed a lot…and then he looked at me, thinking for a long time and finally said)
The best advice provided by my mother to me, was to always live life to its limits and beyond and that she wants me to have everything I dreamt of, but to put happiness first.
With “Superman” and the Black Widow
Huawei China’s leading telecom company has the charming actress Scarlett Johansson who has captured the hearts of men and star Henry Cavill “Superman” who has captured the hearts of women around the world as ambassadors for the new P9 smart phone.
Huawei (a third of the earth’s population uses its products) unveiled a smartphone in London in the presence of star Henry Cavill and a number of movie stars and the arts, media and photography. At this event the company announced a proactive phone and a film starring Henry Cavill and Scarlett Johansson. The story is based on the idea of a meeting between Johansson and Cavill, and “Huawei” and “Leica” and between Hollywood and Shanghai, and between black and white and colour. Also, Hia got exclusive photos of the two star ambassadors for this outstanding phone that takes photography on a smartphone to whole new level. The device works with the latest version of the ‘Android’ system that integrates technological development with the elegance of design. This co-operation between the “Huawei” and “Leica” cameras resulted in a dual camera lens that allows the capture of clearer and more precise images doubling the amount of light and vivid colour or black and white.

'DC Universe: The Exhibit' Welcoming Fans Starting Today
#DCUniverse: The Exhibit is now open! Explore the world of @DCComics: https://t.co/5ZTC3yXUUI pic.twitter.com/uZBBasnbUr— WB Tour Hollywood (@wbtourhollywood) May 24, 2016
If you're a fan of the DC cinematic world, this new exhibit is a must do!
It's the latest addition to the Warner Bros. tour in Burbank, and includes some really awesome props and costumes from both Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad. And you know with more superhero films on the way, it will only keep getting better. If you missed our walk-through on Periscope, you can still watch it here.
And guess who is front and center as soon as you walk in? - Go Supes! (who also takes flight in the closing shot of the intro video to the studio tour).
Our favorite part was the Daily Planet, because you know.. Clois. But there is something for everyone.
Batman fans will love the costumes Ben Affleck wore in Batman v Superman, all created by the super talented Michael Wilkinson (who also gave Superman his updated look).
And of course girl power reigns with the gorgeous Wonder Woman, whose costume is also on display. Gal Gadot will bring that fierceness back in her own solo film next June.
Obviously, our favorite quote below.. wait a second. Are we getting a look at the original quote from Superman in that pivotal scene in Batman v Superman?? -- These are some of the little surprises that await you!
We also got a close-up look at "the" Robin that has the internet talking.. the secrets he must keep.
After checking out a few more displays, we headed back to Metropolis. Some of our favorite props there were in the details, like Lois' name on her journal, and the awesome press badges for her and Clark.
The bad guys are also nicely represented in the new exhibit, with Lex's costume on display and yep, that's Kryptonite in the back (we didn't want to get too close).
You remember this hairless guy.. made Batman jump and you know that can't be easy.
You can see all of our pics in HQ, in the gallery below.
View post on imgur.com
At the end of the tour, we stopped by the studio store to check out the Batman v Superman offerings, and we dare you to walk away without buying something. Some of these items you won't find online, so we decided not to pass up our opportunity to buy a couple of things.

Henry Opens Up About His Girlfriend: "She's Fantastic"
Henry talked to ELLE magazine as part of the Batman v Superman promotion, and it's a revealing interview where he opens up about his relationship with his girlfriend Tara (who he's been dating since late last summer), their age difference, and what he thinks about people having a "hall pass."
Henry also mentions his resistance to taking off his clothes during his time in The Tudors, and much more!
Read his interview by clicking on the pic or below. UPDATE (2/19): Henry's interview is now online.
MAN STEELS HEART
Henry Cavill — Superman himself — lets Mickey Rapkin in on his singular taste in women and how to fend off fans who only want him for his tights
Man of Steel was the Superman reboot many die-hard fans never believed possible. Turns out, there was a way to supplant Christopher Reeve’s earnestly gorgeous man in tights (and his bumbling alter ego) in audience’s minds: by updating him with a distinctly twenty-first-century hero. Henry Cavill’s brooding, yoked he-man returns this month in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, opposite Ben Affleck as the caped crusader.
As it happens, Cavill, 32, has had his share of Clark Kent–ian moments. At his posh English boarding school, classmates called him “Fat Cavill” and “lemon” — local slang, he explains, for someone who “tries too hard to impress the girls and is a bit of a knob about it.”
Presumably, Cavill (who first hit our radar as Henry VIII’s eye-candy henchman in Showtime’sThe Tudors) has improved on that front. He’s been linked to MMA fighter Gina Carano, The Big Bang Theory’s Kaley Cuoco, Paris Hilton, and now a 19-year-old university student — a relationship he swears is about much more than what’s on your dirty mind.
ELLE: Did you have a childhood obsession with a famous woman?
HENRY CAVILL: I didn’t really, no. I didn’t have posters up. I still don’t have any crushes on actresses or models. It’s always been one of those things with girlfriends. They say, “Who’s on your list?” What do you call it, the Get Out of Jail Free card?
ELLE: Are you talking about a hall pass?
HC: Every single girlfriend has asked. I say I don’t have a list and they go, “Okay, well I’ve got this person….” And I go, “Stop right there. I don’t need to know who you really want to have sex with. I’m probably going to work with that person.” I just explained this to my girlfriend. She said, “That’s a fair point.”
ELLE: You’re in a unique situation.
HC: It’s odd, yeah. But I’m loyal to a fault. I may have learned that from my mother.
ELLE: You showed a lot of skin on The Tudors. Were you always comfortable naked?
HC: Are you kidding me? I had to start telling the producers, “Stop making me take my clothes off.” One year they said, “For the publicity shot, we’re going to have you shirtless holding a horse.” I said, “Why the fuck am I shirtless? My character has changed. He’s a morose, depressed dude.” They’re like, “Yeah… but people love it.”
ELLE: How does it feel to be objectified?
HC: I don’t consider it being objectified. If people like to see me with my shirt off, it’s enormously flattering. But that doesn’t mean I’m going to take my shirt off all the time.
ELLE: Can you tell the difference between a girl who’s interested in Henry Cavill and one who just wants to sleep with Superman?
HC: One, you never know. Two, if you’re just looking for a shag, does it really matter? And three, are they really different things? I think I have some similar traits or ideology to the character.
ELLE: What’s the most painful thing a woman’s ever said to you?
HC: In a rocky patch with a girlfriend, she asked me to go away to see a friend. I was supposed to be gone for a week. Then she said, “Stay away another week.” My head was pretty wrecked. When you give your all to something and you’re hitting a wall, it just feels so wrong. It felt like school again in the sense that, What am I doing wrong? It’s that feeling of hopelessness, I guess.
ELLE: We grow up, but in some ways we’re still the same person.
HC: Nature is a definite thing. But nurture is just as powerful. It can really mess with you.
ELLE: You’re dating a 19-year old. I have to ask, What do you talk about?
HC: Everything. People say, “Age is just a number.” A lot of times it’s not just a number. It’s actually a real and true sign of someone’s maturity. But in this case, she’s fantastic.
ELLE: But you understand the knee-jerk reaction to her age, right?
HC: It’s a natural reaction. But when I was 19, I was going out with a 32-year-old.
ELLE: Really? What did she teach you?
HC: Things that I can’t mention in an article.
ELLE: When have you been intimidated by a woman?
HC: If someone’s trying to intimidate me, male or female, I don’t respect them enough to be intimidated. But when I first met my girlfriend, I was super intimidated. I wanted to impress her. I was thinking, Don’t mess this up, man. You’ve gotta play your cards exactly right.
ELLE: But you’re Superman!
HC: Everyone doubts themselves. It’s just a matter of admitting it or not.
ELLE: Okay. What’s the one thing you could find in a woman’s apartment that would lead you to believe you’re incompatible?
HC: [Laughs] A Batman statuette.
You can find Henry's new interview on the March Issue of ELLE, which is now out on newstands (last page). Order your copy here.

Photographer Sarah Dunn Talks Working With Henry Then & Now
A photo posted by Sarah Dunn Photo (@studiobaby) on
It was a picture that instantly captured the attention of Henry's thousands of fans.
Photographer Sarah Dunn shared the rare black and white photo from 2004 on social media last week.
The feedback was so overwhelming, we decided to reach out to Sarah to learn more about that day.
She was kind enough to answer a few questions exclusively for us.
You are an internationally known photographer, with a portfolio filled with the biggest stars in Hollywood. Can you share more about the day you took that photo?
I knew Henry's agent at the time and he asked me if I would take Henry's new head shot, as a favour, I said of course and we met in my tiny flat in north London.
What was your experience working with Henry, who at the time was just starting his rise to the top?
I found him to be very charming and he took direction really well. He told me he was down to the last two for the new SUPERMAN RETURNS movie. Unfortunately he lost out to Brandon Routh, but fate is a funny thing and all good things come to those who wait!
Fast-forward to 2016, and Henry is about to reprise his role as Superman in what's expected to be one of the biggest films of the year: Batman v Superman. Do you see a difference in the film's promo shots from the young man you photographed back then, and what would you say to him if you were to see him again?
We have worked together a few times since that first shoot in my tiny flat, it's always fun to reminisce about that day. He is now a fully fledged movie star and physically very different to the boy I met in my flat 14 years ago. Still the charming well mannered, articulate, humble boy I met all those years ago too.

Where can people find your work, and is there any special project you are working on right now?
My website is www.sarahdunn.com. I'm currently working on a very special, secret project with Jeremy Renner that I cannot wait to share with the world!!
We'd like to thank Sarah for taking time out of her busy schedule to talk with us.
Sarah's work has been published all over the world, with an impressive client list that includes movie studios, media companies, and magazines. You can keep up with her on Facebook at Sarah Dunn Photography, Instagram @studiobaby, twitter @studiobaby.

We had the chance to interview a sniffly Henry, at the world premiere of The Man from U.N.C.L.E. in New York. Our chat was all about Solo, and we can't imagine how he knew what we were going to ask first.. ;) and then Guy Ritchie photobombed us. Watch.
Henry mentions Istanbul at the end, because that's where director Guy Ritchie and producer Lionel Wigram said they could be going next!
Henry also talked to us in London, so look for that and tons of other exclusive content this week as we celebrate the release of the film. Go Solo! (hope you're feeling better).

Exclusive Chat With Michael Blevins: What's Next For Henry
Michael Blevins knows what it takes to get Henry to his superhero fitness goals. In Part 1 of our exclusive interview with him, he shared some of that process. He also told us what it was like to participate with Henry in the Gibraltar Rock Run last October.
In Part 2 of our chat with Blevins, we pick up the conversation talking about Henry's diet. He then tells us how his training is different, now that he's preparing for a military role.

Henry's Trainer Shares Utah Photo, Fitness Advice
If you followed our updates on Henry's training for Man of Steel and Batman v Superman, you know Michael Blevins (@sworntoblack) was a main participant in that process. During filming in Detroit last year, Henry also showed up to support his trainer in several fitness competitions. Henry's work then continued in Utah and now in London, as Michael mentions in a new post on his site:
I was reminded on a run the other day of why I put my shoes on in the first place, it was not in fact to improve my VO2 max or change my ability to buffer lactic acid. In fact it wasn't conscious at all, it took running past a palace in Hyde Park for realization on the day to take place, and tomorrow it will change. Interestingly enough this is a daily occurrence, superficially the idea is to get fit, move faster, and move more, more times. The expression though that keeps this consistent is fostered in the aftermath or the unplanned. Suffering through purposeful effort builds resolution, relationships, a kindling of sorts for definition of our actions.
Read the rest at gritandteeth.com, and get ready to find out a lot more about Henry's training next week. We had a chance to sit down with Michael recently, to talk about his previous work with Henry and what's to come. Stay tuned for Part 1 of our exclusive, coming next week!

Gibraltar Coverage: Henry With Royal Marines, Fans Ahead Of 'Rock Run'
What makes a great ambassador? we learned that by watching Henry over the weekend. As you know we were lucky enough to cover the Gibraltar Rock Run and talk to Henry, before he trekked up that mountain with his Royal Marine brother Nik, and his trainer Michael Blevins. And we're not exaggerating when we tell you that from the moment Henry arrived in Gibraltar to the moment he flew out, he was the most honorable and kind person with everyone who approached him. We brought you the pictures from the airport Friday and the welcoming party that followed. We caught up with him a little later, during an impromptu get-together at Casemates Square. These are a few pics and quick video we shot, as Henry signed and posed with Royal Marines, fellow Rock Run participants and fans. What a guy. But we don't have to tell you that ;)
We still have tons of stuff to share with you from Gibraltar, and you're gonna love it!
