Henry Gains A New Costar: Ray Fisher Tapped To Play 'Cyborg'

Variety is confirming the latest cast member set to join Henry in Man of Steel 2. Ray Fisher has reportedly been tapped to play Cyborg:

Cyborg, while not a major part in the Batman-Superman feature, is a member of the Justice League and will become a much more significant role as Warner and D.C. develop more films related to the Justice League universe, sources confirm.

The Hollywood Reporter has more about Ray's role:

Stone/Cyborg was for decades a member of the Teen Titans, a group of heroes that included the sidekicks of adult heroes such as Robin, Wonder Girl and Kid Flash. The character became retrofitted to be a member of the Justice League in 2011, when DC Entertainment relaunched its comic book line as the New 52.

Warners quietly added the character to its casting call several months ago, when it began looking for a physically fit black actor. The part at the time called for only one scene but promised more in terms of future movies.

The casting news really doesn't come as a surprise, since a few months ago Latino Review revealed that Warner Bros. was looking for someone like Ray, and they even guessed it was for the role of Cyborg. And as a fan pointed out...
That's right! - Man of Steel knows everything.. watch him talk about Cyborg at about :40. Henry was promoting the Man of Steel Blu-ray release and was excited about the prospect.

So far your reaction to Cyborg's addition to Batman vs. Superman has been pretty funny. You guys, trust the powers that be.
The latest casting does narrow down the field of possible roles The Rock could be playing, as Mark Hughes over at Forbes points out - READ MORE. And we tend to agree with this prediction from Latino Review.

  1. With each new casting its clear this is not an MOS sequel. Henry is getting the shaft. How big will Henry's role be now? 30%?. Assuming Affleck gets 40% and Gadot 10% and Cyborg and the rest get the rest.

  2. Feel sorry for Henry - lots of jokes at movie sites and boards paraphrasing the tweets you posted. This film is definitely slipping away from him.

  3. My guess is that this movie with such a big cast is going to be broken up into two parts. When Snyder first announced MOS II, it was rumor is was going to be a cliff hanger.
Also I think the movie is going to focus on Superman, Batman and Luthor. Everyone else is either small role or cameo. I going to make a sad point about Cyborg though. In the two years since the reboot, DC comics has yet to really develop him. He was better off in the Teen Titans then the Justice League.

  4. Please Henry do other movies than this one, please!!!!

  5. WB announces their comic films in July. If no more Superman films are announced its over for the Superman franchise but just the start for Henry. He is becoming the butt of jokes now for the way WB is doing this film and treating him. Not good for Henry's career.

  6. I have faith that Henry will shine in the "sequel". Strip him off the Superman suit and we'll see a very good actor. I hope his agent gets Henry more amazing film role in the future.

  7. One worry is this will be interpreted by some as meaning Cavill could not cut it and Batman and others need to be brought in to make the movie a success. Those comments are out there.

    1. They certainly are!! If Henry weren't in this movie, I wouldn't give a rats a$$ about it anymore. I've had enough Batman.

  8. Six months ago I would have told you all to stop panicking and being ridiculous.

    Now...I'm in agreement with you.

I was looking forward to a Man of Steel sequel. It's pretty obvious we're not getting one.

And with every story that comes out, this is starting to smell very Matrix-sequel-ish - someone's getting carried away, bloating the cast list with as many actors as they can and we'll barely see the supposed main focus.

I love Batman - but I need a rest from him. I am Batman'd the heck out. But since he's been WB's cash-cow for so long, I don't see him simply popping up in a cameo type role.

  9. I'm soooo disappointed, this is becoming a mess. This is NOT a MOS 2 sequel! I'm officially uninterested in this film. I think Henry just got pushed back to the end of the line! I'm soooooo upset!!!

  10. Best thing for Henry is to get past this film and ask to have WB use his options for other films. Think of the time the filming takes and the workout! Henry gets nothing for this, He is turning into a co-star in this film. He really needs to move on.

    1. He can't ask to have WB use his options for other films, if the contract is for a specific number of DC-related movies. Which they would be.

You really think it's that easy?

    2. Originally he had 6 options to play Superman. 3 MOS films and 3 JL's. Already WB has shifted one of his Superman options to Man From UNCLE. The idea being a franchise for UNCLE so 2 more options may shift from Superman to UNCLE. Basically after Batman /Superman Henry has just one more option to play Superman. Seems that might be easy to get the studio to change as they are not planning on using Henry long-term as Superman anyway it seems per the option shifts.

    3. Actors options get changed all the time. This is not unusual and has nothing to do with Henry but rather the studio changing plans. Not turning MOS into a franchise. The studio is high on Henry as they are giving him UNCLE instead. He'll likely have to play Superman once more in JL 1. Rumors that it may be Doomsday/Death of Superman if true means no way WB doesn't use Henry for the final film that kills off Superman.

    4. In the the Doomsday story arc, Superman doesn't really die. He is in a coma while healing.

  11. I'm sorry. Something is going on. You don't treat a film's star, a film that supposed to spawn a franchise like this. It is embarrassing for Henry and its negative publicity for him too.

I think WB would like Henry to ask out. They could part over creative difference.

Why? JL will be hugely expensive and a new actor could be brought in for lots less what Henry would have to be paid.

Ruthless business with money the bottom line.

  12. I wish people would stop saying Henry Cavill should just quit being Superman.
First- He always wanted to be Superman. As child, he loved playing Superman. He audition for the role twice. He is very dedicated to it. Superman is not just another acting gig, but his dream. He is fulfilling his dream. We as his fans should support him.
Second- We don't know the details of his contract. It may hurt him and his career. He could lose a lot if he leaves.
Third- He probably has read the script or a portion of it. He has a better idea of what is going on then us. We are speculating too much. We believing to many rumors.
Fourth-I believe Henry Cavill is talented enough to shine in large cast. He did well in The Tudors.
Honestly, people should stop being so negative and wait until the movie comes out. He is clearly passionate about being Superman. He loves being Superman and we don't have the right to tell him stop doing something he loves.

    1. The decision of whether WB turns MOS into a franchise is out of Henry's hands. If they don't then his Superman run is over probably with JL. Especially if they do death of Superman in the first JL film. .

    2. My comment was directed at fans who insist Henry Cavill should just quit. You are right the studio is the one to decide about a possible franchise. Warner Bros is most likely going to be announcing future DC movies at San Diego Comic Con. We should stop speculating and wait for their announcement. Finally, in Death of Superman, he doesn't die but is in a coma. He later recovers.

  13. WB has done nothing for the movie but promote other characters, spurning Superman/Cavill and diminishing the Man of Steel's presence with each new news release. As for Man Of Steel sequel, at best its a Worlds Finest, at worst a Justice League. With Henry's role decreased with each new announcement.
