U.N.C.L.E. Stills, More Trailer Reaction, Everyone Is Loving Solo!

We always knew Henry would be more than a fitting Solo, in the big screen adaptation of The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and judging by the internet's reaction after the release of the first trailer, you all seem to agree!

The first trailer for The Man From U.N.C.L.E. is chock full of super-spy goodness. Set in the 60s, Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer star as American and Russian spies, respectively who have to work together. It’s got a Mad Man look with a carefree feel (plus Hugh Grant is in it!), and we’re definitely already excited to see the finished movie.

The excitement leading up to the film's August 14 release continues to build today, as we share more new stills from the film and more reaction from around the web. Check out our original post for everything else you might have missed. Summer can't get here fast enough.. did we mention it will be released in IMAX? get ready to swoon!

LA Times:

The clip for the film, which also features Alicia Vikander, Hugh Grant and Jared Harris, includes plenty of high style, fast action and a touch of winking humor.

Variety:

It’s back to the Cold War 1960s in Warner Bros.’ first trailer for “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” The trailer has the look and feel of James Bond movies of that era, partcularly “From Russia with Love.”

Daily Mail:

He gained a legion of admirers in 2013 when he became the Man Of Steel. But trading in his cape for a job with the CIA, Henry Cavill makes the dapper transformation from superhero to suave spy in the first official trailer for The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

We did, we did, we did! -- But it's nice to see him get the unbiased opinion too!

JoBlo:

I'm happy to say that this was one fun and stylish trailer, and it looks like the leads are having a ball. Here's hoping the audience does the same later this summer.

We had seen this still as a magazine scan, now we have the original..

That's right! we also have Stratton to look forward to. But for now let's give Henry and the cast and crew of The Man from U.N.C.L.E. a loud cheer for a job well done!

Henry Cavill (“Man of Steel”) stars as Napoleon Solo opposite Armie Hammer (“The Social Network”) as Illya Kuryakin in director Guy Ritchie’s “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.,” a fresh take on the hugely popular 1960s television series.

Set against the backdrop of the early 1960s, at the height of the Cold War, “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” centers on CIA agent Solo and KGB agent Kuryakin. Forced to put aside longstanding hostilities, the two team up on a joint mission to stop a mysterious international criminal organization, which is bent on destabilizing the fragile balance of power through the proliferation of nuclear weapons and technology. The duo’s only lead is the daughter of a vanished German scientist, who is the key to infiltrating the criminal organization, and they must race against time to find him and prevent a worldwide catastrophe.

“The Man from U.N.C.L.E” also stars Alicia Vikander (“Anna Karenina”), Elizabeth Debicki (“The Great Gatsby”), with Jared Harris (“Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows”), and Hugh Grant as Waverly.

The screenplay was written by Guy Ritchie & Lionel Wigram, who previously collaborated on re-imagining the classic detective Sherlock Holmes in two hit films. The story is by Jeff Kleeman & David Campbell Wilson and Guy Ritchie & Lionel Wigram, based on the television series “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.”

    1. Absolutely. RockanRolla was the first Guy Ritchie film I saw and I fell in love with his style instantly. I hope Henry can do a gritty roll in the future with Guy Ritchie, it would be quite interesting to see Henry as a villain, dodgy and and out of sorts. I'm very happy Guy chose Henry for this roll, he's perfect.
