Amy Working Out To Keep Up With 'Batman v Superman' Costars

It's not just the boys working out hard as they film Batman v Superman in Detroit. Amy Adams admits she's doing her best to look buff, when she brings Lois to the big screen in 2016. She talked to Access Hollywood about her exercise routine last night in New York, as she promoted her new ad campaign for Max Mara

Everyone here, it's like they are super yoke. So I feel the press.. you know, not the pressure cause they are very accepting of all body types but everyone looks so great (..) they are all in such good shape. I think it started with the last time I did it, and I think I haven't stopped working out since. I love it! -- I'm not crazy. I don't have any crazy fitness routines but I do love to work out. It increases the serotonin so I find I'm a happier person when I work out, more patient, for sure.

Amy went on to mention the soldier she gave her first class seat to while flying from Detroit to L.A. a few weeks ago. Last year Amy talked about a potential love triangle between Lois, Superman and Wonder Woman.

Am I interested in a love triangle? I don't know ... I hope that I can be involved with a woman on screen when we're not in a love triangle. That would be fun. Maybe we team up together and we work as teammates instead of adversaries?

Now that filming is underway, what say you readers? love triangle or teammates? -- we'd love to hear what you think. Either way, we're very excited to see Supes and Lois reunite because we know sparks will definitely be flying!

  1. Please for the love of God no love triangle. Lois and Superman have always been one of the few sacred parts of the myth and for good reason as it's what keeps Clark connected to us. He loves a human woman who is really good at her job and that's just beautiful. Wonder Woman has her own love interests and her own mythology to celebrate. Please let the SM/WW stunt die in a fire. It's cringe worryingly sexist. Hope to god it's not in this film.

    1. Well, sorry to different but I've always hated Lois Lane. In the cartoons and movies and I could never figure out her true purpose for being superman's love interest (I feel like she used her job as leverage to chase a man like some gold digger. But, I digress.). Now, I'm not a "stan" for Wonder Woman as well and don't think she's right for supes either. But, if I had to pick the lessor of two evils for supes, I'd choose Wonder Woman over Lois is a heartbeat.

    2. @BlackEssence, with all due respect (and I truly do mean respect bc I truly want to have a convo), I think you have misunderstood the history of Lois as a character specifically in the feminist context. Some of your commentary (though I'm sure it was unintentional) actually plays into a lot of sexism. I would really encourage you to read up and educate yourself a bit on the history of the character, why she was created and what she has meant to the comics universe for the last 75 years. I think you are being unfair and, unfortunately, in the process I think you are missing out on a truer understanding of Superman because to not understand Lois is to not understand HIM.

Lois Lane was created in the 1930's when women were shunned from man's work. She was an aggressive career woman in a time when most narratives were still presenting women as passive. The most important thing to do her is the truth. She has a passion for justice in much the same way that Superman does. She has been raised in a world where powerful men all around her have abused her power. When she meets Superman and sees a man who does NOT abuse his power, she is attracted to him. In turn, Superman is attracted to HER because she is willing to run "into the fire" without the physical privilege of superpowers. She is flawed and human but willing to risk her life without that privilege to do what is right. This is quite literally the basis of the Superman mythos as it represents the idea that humanity is worth saving and fighting for because there are those among us that would do what was necessary for the weak even if they didn't have bulletproof skin. The idea that Lois was actually "better" at journalism than Clark was a huge deal as it showed that there was something in the world that Clark actually couldn't "win" at despite his physical power.

As many famous comic book writers have said, it is through Lois that we "see the wonder of Superman." We see him through her eyes. She has been raised to believe that powerful men will betray and she would be the first to blow the whistle on him if he isn't what he claims to be. The idea of Lois as a "gold digger" is a sexist smear campaign that developed decades ago because people were truly uncomfortable with seeing a woman who was not sexualized in the male gaze go after what she wanted. What she wants is the truth. She goes after what she wants. She has been written as a Brunette, a Red head, a Black woman, An Indian woman and, in the new 52, possibly as a Hispanic woman. The amazing thing about her is that her appearance has very little to do with who she is---she's a rare woman in fiction who is defined more by her personality and brain.

    3. Just to clarify, Lois is very successful -she won a Pulitzer prize for her journalism, mos she reminded her boss of that when she wanted him to print her story on superman. I would hardly call her a gold digger, that remark would fit someone who has nothing and seeks to bleed others for what she Can't obtain herself.

    5. Like I said to anon, if you like Lois Lane, great for you. I still don't care for her and I have a right to feel that way and have a difference of opinion. A superman fan is not required to like EVERYONE that Superman becomes involved with. I left my comment because the comment section is open to opinions and I shared mine which was different from everyone else and I stand by it. Lois Lane could be an actress winning an oscar, that still doesn't change my outlook on her. If I can live with the fact that folks like her, then folks need to live with the fact that there are people who DON'T like her and I'm one of them. Wasn't looking for approval or agreement. But, I also don't care for people trying to change my opinion of her. Again, thank you for the insight on her life, but my view of her is the same.

  3. @BlackEssence (cont.) Wonder Woman and Lois are both equally wonderful characters and it's frustrating to see comics cultivate an environment where women pit them against each other. It's not about being a "stan" for either of them because they both have extreme value and are arguably the two most important women that DC Comics owns. It's about understanding why they were created and what their roles are. Wonder Woman was not created to be a love interest for Superman and it's wrong to put her in that role. She has her own mythology as the premiere Superheroine but has, unfortunately, due to the sexism in comics often been shoved into a girlfriend position for male heroes detracting from her own message and purpose. Ultimately, Wonder Woman is a visitor to the World of Man sent here to help but she did not grow up as "one of us" as Clark Kent did. She doesn't truly understand Clark's need to live as one of us as this is not her reality nor should it be.

MTV had some great interviews that put a lot in perspective for the 75th anniversary.

A Famous feminist comics Blogger DCwomenkickingass ran a series last year for the 75th anniversary in which she interviewed different Superman creators and feminist voices about why Lois was so important. The responses are fascinating and great reading. Follow the LoisLane75 tag. http://dcwomenkickingass.tumblr.com/post/48274155000/its-lois-lanes-75th-anniversary

DC also put out a great book last year for Lois Lane's 75 anniversary. The book is filled with some wonderful comics that help illuminate why the character is so important. It's well worth your time! (Though it's a little pricey) http://www.amazon.com/Lois-Lane-Celebration-75-Years/dp/1401247032

I really hope you take the time to read up a little bit more and listen to some of the thoughts of people who have created Superman over the years. I think it might really help illuminate why people love Lois so much and why she is so important to this story. It goes without saying that Wonder Woman has her own VITAL legacy that is also worth celebrating in a totally different context. Both women are special and important. I think the key is that it's problematic when male driven media pits two powerful women against each other over a man. Both characters are icons for women and deserve much better. Hope you enjoy!

    1. Thank you, anon. I really do appreciate you taking the time to tell me more on the history of Lois in a broader aspect. I grew up with her in the sense that my older brother raised me on Superman. So, I know quite a bit on Supes and Lois. With that said, I still don't care for her in the since that I honestly can't put my finger on it, but there is something about her that just makes me think that in the end, she's a hindrance to Superman. But, that's just how I feel on it. Doesn't make me wrong for not liking her not does it make you or anyone else who like her. But, at the end of the day after years of watching her progression in movies, cartoons, and comics, my conclusion for me is that I simply do not care for her. This isn't a whim feeling or anything. I just don't care for Lois Lane. Wonder Woman has always been someone I can tolerate especially in how she was portrayed in Justice League (The cartoon.). I liked her in that. But, that's as far as it went for me. But, Lois Lane has always seemed like a hindrance to superman and I will not change my stand on that. Just because everyone else like Lois doesn't mean in order for me to like Superman, I have to like her, too. I simply don't. If she means well to other people, then fine. Again, that is not a bad thing. But, it's also not a bad thing to have a difference of opinion about her or be made to feel bad about how I feel about. I don't like Loise Lane and that's all. But, I admire you for being knowledgable in the history of superman.

  4. I always hated the idea of a love triangle between Wonder Woman, Superman, and Lois Lane. Superman and Wonder Woman deserve to have their own stories and be in the spotlight. As Superman's girlfriend, Wonder Woman becomes a supporting character. Many of those who want them together just so she can have his babies. They feel Wonder Woman is the only woman strong enough to survive the pregnancy. In other words, Wonder Woman an iconic symbol of feminism is being reduce to a baby factory for an overpowered male character.
At times, Lois Lane can be written as pushy and annoying but that is why she is so amazing as character. Lois Lane has in the past stood up against Zod, Lex Luthor, and even an angry Superman when she believes they are in the wrong. She is gutsy lady. She may have her flaws but she has a lot of common sense and provides an unique point of view for Superman. They are better fit as a couple.

  5. No mention of Steve Trevor and how he would feel about this? Just gonna push him to the side? That's kinda messed up. Lol

  6. No triangle please. I'd rather see some great Clois romance. Henry & Amy have such great chemistry!

And I'm sure WW has better things to do than steal someone's boyfriend - like saving the world or sth :D

  8. I don't care who he kisses, but there better be a love scene. It would unrealistic if a man (or a character) that perfect (inside and out) would not be getting some affection in his life. Heck, if I won the lottery, Henry wouldn't even have to work :)
