The Suit, The Nod, The Latest On The Man from U.N.C.L.E.

Hello Solo, you didn't think we've forgotten about you right? despite things being seemingly quiet with The Man from U.N.C.L.E. that's now in post-production, we have a cool update today.

We now know of at least one designer (via), who gave Henry his sexy agent look for the film. His name is Timothy Everest. In a recent blog post, Everest mentioned working on U.N.C.L.E. last year, adding that it was one of his "favorite" projects. While Henry was filming in Rome in early October, Everest pretty much confirmed the blue suit as one of the outfits he designed for Solo.

Henry on set looking sharp!

While we still don't have a release date (yes, we're starting to sound like a broken record but patience is the word) -- things are looking up. This week we found out U.N.C.L.E. director Guy Ritchie is reportedly working with Warner Bros. to direct a retelling of the King Arthur legend.  Like HitFix points out, that means the studio is really happy with Ritchie's work:

Warner must be feeling good about what they've seen so far of "The Man From U.N.C.L.E.", and I'm curious to see if that kickstarts a new series for Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer, and if so, how that impacts Ritchie's involvement with these King Arthur movies.

Sorry Arthur, we like you but Solo is THE MAN.. bring on the spy sequels. This week Televisual credited U.N.C.L.E. for a production boost, saying it was one of the "big budget inward investment films" that accounted for 81 percent of spending in the UK last year.

We also got a little bit more info from Cinesite, the company that will be working on the special effects for The Man from U.N.C.L.E. in Montreal. They spoke to fxguide about how they will be splitting the work between London and Canada:

We will be working seamlessly between both locations. The Man From U.N.C.L.E. for Warner Bros. will be our first project, split between the UK and Canada. The pipeline between locations, through our Sohonet connection, means we can utilize the creative and technical expertise at each location for standalone sequences.By offering two locations we are giving our clients greater choice in where they want their work placed; we will be offering greater flexibility, capacity and an international resource.

If you didn't get a chance to follow the filming of the movie, Henry plays American spy Napoleon Solo and we can't wait to see what he did with the role. Here's all of our coverage so far, including exclusive pics and videos. Catch the rest in our gallery. Hopefully we hear more on U.N.C.L.E. soon.

  1. No impact whatsoever. Pretty sure Ritchie can do a Solo franchise (if that happens) PLUS other films....

    1. ... the only problem being that it can't be called "Solo". (Fleming estate has reserved that word for Bond franchise. Hence the name of the latest Bond book.

    2. Guessing Anonymous meant U.N.C.L.E. franchise. But yes, we had heard Solo is reserved for Bond. We'll be on the lookout for 'Sleazy Italian Bar Manager.' Sure U.N.C.L.E. will be a fun film.
