Exclusive Report & Pics From The South London 'U.N.C.L.E.' Set

Just a few more days and it will all be over. It's been almost a week, since Henry finished his work on The Man from U.N.C.L.E. with a production wrap set for Saturday. But we saved a few goodies for you as we celebrate Henry as Napoleon Solo, a role that could mean another potential franchise in his future.

We've been bringing you marliimarl's exclusive set reports throughout the filming of U.N.C.L.E. and now we're happy to share her last one. And she saved the best for last!

You might have thought you'd seen all my images from the U.N.C.L.E. sets but I’m glad to disappoint you; I am back with one final report.

Not really sure how I’ve ended up sharing these pictures from the set I visited first, last, but here they are nonetheless. Some of these are a very special treat, promise not to faint. None of this blurry night stuff I’ve been sharing before, these are DAYLIGHT. Well, at least the important ones, the Henry ones. Looking back at the 3 sets I visited, boat stunts aside, this is my favourite one, you’ll see why.

This particular set was not easy to find and it was pure willpower and determination that lead me there in the end. All I knew when I set off that day was that there was filming in Brockley Park, this turned out to be a base camp for the actual set which was 1 mile away. They had some sneaky posters up in the Park when I arrived saying they were filming but I believe these to be decoy posters, there was zero filming in that area when I was there.

At the time I thought this might be the only chance I’d ever get to see Henry so I kept the price firm in mind, gritted my teeth and walked and walked. I finally stumbled across what from afar looked like UFOs in the sky… I was ecstatic! I had found it!

The cars that we are all so familiar with now, were new to me then and I was just snapping away and soaking it all in. This is the taxi that Henry will arrive or leave in. Not always easy to say what scene goes where as they are not filmed in sequence.

About 10 minutes after I arrived I saw Henry for the first time. He was filming a scene going into a building with a suitcase in his hand, all the filming was inside, I could only see him when they were doing retakes. At the time I was too scared to bring up my big camera so was only snapping with my phone. He was quite far away, but it was Henry!

They changed to a different scene and Henry was outside! Henry is the tiny little shadow in the middle of the picture.

Because it had taken me quite some time to find the set, I arrived quite late and saw Henry only a little bit and the one time he was super close I was not in a functional condition to take a picture of him. I was in a state of shock, or completely hypnotised by him, frozen.

This was the first picture I took of some german soldiers, blurry because it’s taken with my mobile in low light as they were moving.

Shortly after the soldiers had walked off the set, it looked like they were packing up for the night so I headed home. Super happy that I had found it and determined to come back the next day.

These orange arrows have been all over the areas where the filming has been, directing the production to the correct locations. Like a little treasure hunt map. When you found the sign that said ‘MFU LOC,’ that’s when you had found the right location.

Day 2! Daylight!

I had been there for a little while, seeing them set up for indoor scenes, doing a few takes and then they came out for a break. Guy started playing chess, he was very into the game. Henry came out as well, it was a very nice sunny and crisp day. This was the first time I noticed that Henry was sitting on a chair which I first believed said Henry Cavill but later realised it said Napoleon Solo - so cool! I had to be tactful, try not to peeve off the security, so I didn’t manage to take a picture of Henry in the chair but I managed to get one with someone else in it…Guy was still playing chess.

Then, suddenly, out of the blue, this happened. Henry was walking towards me!!!! I was the only person there, I’m not counting the paparazzi that had parked himself on the opposite side of the road, behind me.

I kept calm on the outside but I can assure you on the inside, it was chaos!!! This was the reason I was there, THIS was the moment I had been waiting for. He was coming DIRECTLY towards me.

In the below picture, to the very left, almost out of shot, you can see a make up artist. That’s when it dawned on me that he was walking towards the makeup station, which was located on the other side of the road, behind me. What a lucky strike! Totally random and I was there at the right place at the right time.

Here is the proof of what we all know, Henry is a true gentleman. He let everyone out the gate first.

This was when I grabbed my moment and asked if I could take a picture with him. The first fan picture with Henry as Napoleon Solo - what a treat!

He was SO polite! He thanked ME after we had taken the picture, he even did a little ‘Tudor’ bow (!). He BOWED! My mouth was full of cotton wool, I was speechless, I just managed to stutter, “oh no, thank YOU”. I guess he has that effect on people, spellbinding.

Until this moment I had been very polite with the guards and been very careful with not pulling out my big camera to peeve them off. However once I had gotten my picture with Henry, I thought “sod it” and joined the paparazzi on the other side of the street. I thought it might be worth trying to get some good snaps of Henry. And I did.

After he’d walked away from me to the makeup station, it dawned on me; Henry had to come back the same way to get back into the set!

I’m not a professional photographer, I may be a little bit over average interested in photography, know a bit of technicalities, however I did not have any experience with the pressure of ‘papping’ and how to deal with racing hearts and sweaty palms. So when Henry did come back, this was all I managed, I’m still quite happy with it though.

For this one I felt like I had my camera planted in his face. What a beauty!

…and back in he went.

Henry came out quite a bit during breaks and I managed to get some pretty good shots, if I may say so myself. He’s very focused when he’s working so had quite a serious face the whole time. Still super hot and handsome!!!

This was the last I saw of Henry that day. What a TREAT! How surreal! -- they reset and prepped for some more car scenes, brought on some extras.

I love this next picture; the exhaust from the cars, the lights and the monitors.

The scene was quite elaborate with 5-6 cars involved if I remember correctly. They all crisscross each other, going in and out of the buildings.

And that’s it everybody, this is definitely the final set report from me. It’s been so much fun and I’m SO sad it’s all over. Hopefully Henry will come back to London to film again in the not too distant future. I can’t WAIT for this film to come out, to see the final result now that I have seen so much of the filming.

We hope you've enjoyed marliimarl's exclusive reports for Henry Cavill News. We'll continue to bring you the very latest on The Man from U.N.C.L.E. as the film goes into post-production. Exciting times ahead!
